    Hey Sue T sounds like a great trip how many hours a day driving?

    Total distance for the loop, from Surrey to Surrey would be about 4,300 km.

    Surrey to Prince George is about 12 hours (750 km), so if you don't mind a long first day and a long last day, it leaves more time for the remaining 2,800 km on the Alaska Highway and the Cassiar Highway.

    Hwy 16 from Prince George to Kitwanga can be a day's drive. Good highway and average scenery compared to the Cassiar & Alaska Hwys.
  • Three trips we have taken south of the border:
    1. A circular trip around the Olympic Peninsula - lovely scenery.
    2. Go a little further to the Oregon Coast. Cannon Beach is our favourite.
    3. Grand Coulee Dam and the Wenacchee area - a nice journey there and nice when you get there.

    In BC, the Merrit area or the Okanagan cannot be beat, or, if you want to pay the ferry fare, there is lots to see and do on Vancouver Island.

    Part of the fun is planning where to go - Enjoy .:)
  • If you want to head south, go to Whidbey island and explore and then take the ferry to Port Towsend and then explore the Olympic peninsula and maybe head down the Oregon coast.
  • Head to the Okanagan and stay at Evely forest campground on Okanagan lake outside Veron on East side road. If you get there on a Tuesday you should be able to get a spot on the lake. Head on up through Penticton and do a few wine tours. The DW and I try to spend a few days there every year. I motorbike or mountain bike in the morning then we swim and kayak and relax by our private beach in the afternoon. You could also do a trip through the Kootenay area.
    20 mile forest campground on Harrison lake is also nice, but the lake is cold.

    Surrey->Prince George->Dawson Creek->
    Alaska Highway North to Watson Lake
    ->Cassiar Hwy south->Hwy 16 back to Prince George and head'er home.

    8-9 days would be better but doable in a week.

    I can't help you... but I can thank you... My wife and I parked in at the Casino beside the fair grounds in Surry for Canada Day, July 1st, 2007. The bands were plentiful, fun, and most were very good. We stayed there overnight....

    Hope you find what you are looking for... we went from Surry past Hope Slide and into Pinticton... the beach there was fun and the wines were great.
