If considering relocating, consider Georgia. No state income tax on retirement benefits, including social security. Unless you are wealthy with very unusual retirement earnings, you will not pay any state tax. Property taxes vary, of course, but are often less than the national average. Housing costs are way below the national average. Cost of living below national average. Climate choices vary from coastal sub tropical to mountains. Big cities to rural. I live in a small town where you can still have lunch at the drugstore but am 45 minutes from Atlanta, and half that from a major university and one of the top 10 hospitals in the nation! Best of everything! Veterans pay half of vehicle annual registration, free driver's license renewal!
