My 12 Ram 2500 CC LB 4x4 3.73 averages about 11.5 in town. I don't baby it either. On the hwy 55-60 mph about 18-19 mpg. On the freeway running 70 mph about 17mpg. Towing a 9000lb 28' 5'er it gets between 10.5 and 12.6. Last 400 mile trip which included a climb up to 5000' from 132' (home), 75 miles of solo driving and back down to 132' I got 12.6 for the whole trip. Normal seems to be around 10.5-11mpg towing. I don't drive slow either. I could easily get another 1-2 mpg if I slowed down.

My 2012 in my sig averages about 13-14 empty in the city. Its basically a dedicated tow vehicle and isn't a DD so I've never figured empty highway mileage. Towing 10k lbs I'm getting between 9.5 to 10.5 very consistently running 65-70 mph. Truck has 11,000 miles on it so it may get a little better with time but I doubt it. As low as those figures are it beats my 08 Powerstroke towing by 2-3 mpg. The power with the Cummins is truly unbelievable. It runs quiet and is just a fantastic tow vehicle.

I have kept track of every tank of fuel in my truck since I bought it. Now have around 30,000 miles on it. The lifetime average MPG is 11.12. My truck is a dedicated recreational vehicle - not a DD. Most miles on it are spent towing something, be it a 2500 pound fishing boat, up to 17,000 pounds towing my 5er and ski boat tandem.

It has been down as low as 7.92 MPG towing 70 MPH into a head wind. Best was a short highway run at about 60 MPH when I topped off to see 24 MPG (not something that has happened since).

The 2012 is a great truck overall. MPG isn't it's strong point though.

We had a 2011 Ram diesel with 3.42 gearing and a six-speed manual, long bed crew-cab. Our only FW tow with it was disappointing, on the way to Zion we got around 12 mpg, then drove around without the FW to various places, and then came home. When we got home we were down to slightly less than 11 mpg overall. Pulled the boat to the lake to fish three times and mileage kept dropping. I don't know if it was me or the truck, but after nine months I gave up on it and got a different brand with which I am quite satisfied now.

Thanks to all who replied! I know it has probably been asked before, but when I try to search it just comes up with "no results"!

A little more info is needed to give you a good answer.

Been asked before, but 2012 were before DEF and mileage was a little low. The rest depends on the size and weight of the trailer to a degree.

Most RVers with Dodge Diesels claim between 10-12 MPG towing and up to 18 MPG non-towing.
