What's in your toolbox?

Basic hand tools. 18V Dewalt drill and 18V impact wrench. 4 ton jack. 12V compressor that attaches to battery. Small tackle box with screws, fuses, etc. LED flashlight.

I carry the right size socket to change a tire and necessary tools to pull a wheel drum. I also have a good quality #2 Robertson screwdriver that I use considerably. I also tote a high quality torque wrench. These are in addition to the basic tool kit.

I have a toolbox that fits under the back seat seat of the truck. Adjustable wrench, vise grips, multimeter, screwdrivers, tire gauge, tape, a few zipties, clamps, and tie downs. Behind the seat is a blanket I can throw down in the dirt, gloves, breakdown triangles, a knee pad, first aid kit, moist wipes, and a 12v impact gun for tires. I found a higher torque (190 ft pounds) wrench at Northern tools. It is 12 volt, so I have an extension cord for it tk reach the trailer wheels. I had to use a star wrench once to change a tire on the trailer and it was brutal because the nuts were rusted onto the studs. I have the star wrench and jack in the trailer. That's it. Sounds like a lot, but it fits under and behind the seat. I think I have used all of it at one time or another. I certainly dont want to carry a evrything I own, just enough to get going again without waiting for someone else to rescue me.

I have a complete tool bag that I put in the truck prior to a launch.
The trailer carries a box with trailer "special" tools and some spare parts, glue, zip ties, duct tape, pex fittings etc.

Nothing crazy as I am usually fairly close to civilization. If I was planning a Yukon trip......the tool box would look slightly different.

My basic set of tools consists of a combo set of 1/4 and 3/8ths drive sockets. A cordless drill, not an impact, a trailer aid for changing a tire, a torque wrench for the lugs, a drill bit set and drive bit set with couple extra a #2 Robertson bits. The various electrical connectors and fuses and a wire stripper tool, extra light bulbs, pop rivet gun and some pop rivets, cable ties of various lengths, a couple of hose clamps, Teflon tape, electrical tape, gorilla tape, eterna bond roof repair tape..........and a roadside service policy.

Duct tape?! Don't tell me you're a tape racist.

I keep a couple 20K hydraulic Jacks. They've come in handy for more than a flat tire.

Otherwise, basic tool set to cover basic electrical, plumbing, and structural problems.

I have a cupboard dedicated to tools and such. Everything except the jacks are in there - the jacks are in the outside compartment. I use a simple cheap plastic toolbox and a harbor freight "toolbox organizer with 10 drawers" for screws, bolts, fuses, etc.

If you can't fix it with duct tape and pop rivets, it's not broke. :B

The first thing I practiced was changing TT tires. I used to use a jack on the frame, now I have a tire-aid ramp.

Besides the spare tire, I also carry a small 120 volt air compressor, torque wrench, and anything else I need to get going in an annoying 20 minutes; rather than wait for road service to find me.

So far I have changed tires on the TT twice and TV three times. All were nails or small metal shards. Finally I hit a road hazard that bent the rim and axle, shredded the tire and broke a spring. That one needed road service.

My toolbox is the same one I use at home.

I do not have much storage in my fifth wheel. I take the basic stuff that old biscuit outlined.. Jim2007. Need more buy it on the road.. Jim 2007
