I spoke with Banks about adding one to my 5.9 24v and almost choked on the price. What does the PacBrake cost for a 47re? TIA.
Not cheap, sure didn't buy to save on the cost of brake jobs!!
The cost for my 01 2500 with NV4500 5 speed was about $1,400, worth every cent of the cost, I know the auto will be about $300 more.
The big plus and part of the cost is a 12V 150 psi on-board air compressor. This added the second safety accessory, a set of Kline air horns. These are something i use with care, but far better than the weak a** shock horn on the 01 Ram!!
Are you saying your PacBrake requires an air compressor? My Pac on my last 98 used vacuum.
Yes, Gen 2 24 Valve, part of the install kit, 12 Volt 150 psi air compressor, lines and fittings for air hose connections for as mentioned inflating stuff.
The other big plus is a set of Kline Air Horns, the Ram standard horn sounded like a dinky little car. Now when needed it speaks with authority! - wborstExplorerThe PacBrake kit does include a 12 volt air compressor. As I recall I paid about $1200 for the kit and my son and I installed it ourselves in about a day. This was money and time well spent if ou are going to be towing in mountains or over hilly country.
I also installed a set of air horns at the same time since I had air available. You also get a kit to mount an air coupling o you truck to inflate tires, beach balls, air mattresses, etc. This also came in handy. - Cummins12V98Explorer III

- campiglooExplorerWell, wborst, I can tell you're justifiably hooked on the mod. You're hopeless now. What's next on the list???
- wborstExplorerI just completed a 3800 mile trip pulling my 1200 pound camper with the PacBrake Exhaust Brake. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! We went through the Ozark Mountains in Missouri and never had to use the service brakes while traveling the interstate. The exhaust brake did a fantastic job maintaining my cruise setting going down hill. I would HIGHLY recommend this device to anyone who tows a heavy trailer. It was money well spent.

Well, I finally did it. I bought the PacBrake C44052 kit. My son (Who is a ASE Certified Master Mechanic and also the Service Manager at the local Dodge dealer) and I installed it a couple of weeks ago. I have not had a chance to use it while towing yet, but I am anxious to do so.
When driving the truck without the camper, it does a great job slowing down to about 20 mph. I'll let you know about the performance with the 12,000 lb camper behind.
Happy Rving,
Bill
You will enjoy using the PacBrake even more when you are towing!
In town driving while towing, using Tow/Haul and the PB, will make you wonder why you waited so long to get it installed.
Our fifth wheel is close to 15K,I'm so happy with the PB!

I very seldom touch my service brakes on a downhill run, let the Pacbrake do all the work. - restlesswindExplorer
