TC newbie here (yes, I need to change my name now)... I just purchased a Pastime camper and it's just sitting in the bed of my truck on a pad with the basic turnbuckles from the dealer. I had to take my tailgate off. What should I do to ensure the camper doesn't slide out like the ones pictured above?
Thanks!
Bonnie
Get a Ford... - Sparky87k5ExplorerTraveltrailergirl: Depends on what the turnbuckles are connected to, what kind of mounts do you have and how heavy the TC is.

Bonnie - TamnativeExplorerI don't think it has anything to do with the make of the truck but more with the amount of gray matter in the truck owners head. I have a real problem with people putting things in the back of a truck unsecured. When I bought my second camper the "TECH" and I am using the term loosely, told me I could drive down the road without the camper falling out because "it is to heavy to fall out" ! I secure EVERYTHING that goes in the back of my truck and will not drive a truck that has something in the back that is not secured. Just look at the side of any major hiway.......OK I won't rant any more on this subject.

- HandbasketExplorerThe tailgate _ain't_ closed on this one...
I happened on this on the south side of town one Saturday about 7-8 years ago. I stopped to offer to help, but the driver wasn't around. Yes, that's the headliner you see hanging down in the cab, and no, there are no nearby hills or stoplights that might explain it....
Jim, "I dream of a society where a chicken can cross the road without having its motives questioned." - mooring_productExplorerI once found an Ipad, wallet and Blackberry phone laying in the road. I picked everything up and waited for the owner to call the phone...very odd conversion. "Ya I have your phone."
- routefortyExplorerMaybe the tailgate is closed because he was just driving by and saw the TC just sitting in the road. I've found lots of wrenches, hammers, flashlights, etc. laying in the road. Why not a TC?? :B gary
- RCMAN46ExplorerI am more interested in the make of the camper. Looks like it fared the trip to the pavement in good condition.
