Obama didn't put troops in Syria to protect oil. Trump flat out said he was protecting the oil.
Obama put them there to protect people.
Probably a bit of a mix. I voted for Obama because he promised we would end the war started during Bush. Obama failed and I voted against at second term. The withdrawal or escalation as the next election draws near will be a primary decision once again.
IMO we need to just get out and stay out. For that matter 50% of troops at ALL bases could come home.
