EVs help with US energy independence.
But they make us more dependent on China. China controls over 85% of the rare earth market that are used in EV motors and batteries among other things. As US rare earth mines dwindle, the stronger China gets. Oil is something that we have plenty of now that we have the technology like directional drilling and fracking to get to it which is why it is such a farse that people say we go to war for oil.
