But they make us more dependent on China. China controls over 85% of the rare earth market that are used in EV motors and batteries among other things. As US rare earth mines dwindle, the stronger China gets. Oil is something that we have plenty of now that we have the technology to get to it which is why it is such a farse that people say we go war for oil.

Exactly!

And save lives of our servicemen and tons of taxpayers' money patrolling those hostile oil routes and seas.

He wasn't protecting the oil, he was keeping it from the enemies hands that was using to fund their war. It is called strategy. We did not need oil from Syria at that time just like we do not need it now due to our own domestic production.

If Obama would not have pulled the troops out of Iraq too soon when he did(which allowed ISIS to expand) then he would not have had to send them to Syria to protect them. All those innocent people killed all because he wanted to fulfill a campaign promise even though everyone said it was not the best thing to do.

Another of your delusions?

"Keeping the oil out of enemies?" Who are they tell me?

Syria and Putin are friends to each other. And withdrawal of our troops made possible Russians getting and occupying our former bases and defensive lines? Unless you are saying now Syria and Putin are our friend too (or Trump's friend, which is more accurate).

It also weakened Kurds and made possible their slaughter. Do you know that Kurds are our friends and they were the only ones who pushed back ISIS?

Even your geo-political views sucks.

Asad. Before the civil war started, it accounted for 25% of Asad's funds in which he used to kill his own people. Asad is friends with Russia and Iran, not the Syrian fighters who are still against him. The oil in Syria is very poor quality and there is not enough of it to make even the slightest of impact. Syria accounts for less than .05% of the worlds production so it has no significance to the US. The only person or group it was important to was Asad.

Trump did not want Turkey to attack the Kurds which is why imposed sanctions on them when they did. However, I believe he made a mistake when he pulled the troops out of that region before shoring up peace with Turkey and the Kurds. Similar to how I believe Obama pulled the troops out of Iraq too soon which lead to the ISIS uprising that killed hundreds of thousands if not millions.

Trump put troops in to protect the oil, so ISIS couldnโ€™t get the oil to fund their terrorism.
Get the facts straight.

Apparently you can't read.

Me: Trump flat out said he was protecting the oil

You: Trump put troops in to protect the oil

So what "facts" did I not get "straight" ?

If Syria or Russia are the enemies, why the heck we gave them these territories, bases and defensive lines?

It also weakened Kurds and made possible their slaughter. Do you know that Kurds are our friends and they were the only ones who pushed back ISIS?

And you are never skeptical on what is told to the public?

Probably a bit of a mix. I voted for Obama because he promised we would end the war started during Bush. Obama failed and I voted against at second term. The withdrawal or escalation as the next election draws near will be a primary decision once again.

IMO we need to just get out and stay out. For that matter 50% of troops at ALL bases could come home.

What taxes are marked to have the military deployed around the globe to keep oil flowing. Why does this continue when we import so little oil?

Because it was a false assumption that we keep the military around the to keep oil flowing. It was just propaganda used by certain people to pander to political sides. As you say, we import little oil now, but our military is still involved in these places so the assumption that it is for oil is invalid. Although it is kind of funny that a certain political party president can attack a region for a certain reason and not one word is said about lying or it being for oil. However, if the opposite political party did it less than five years later using the same exact reason, all of the sudden they are lying and doing it for oil.

time2roll wrote:
What taxes are charged to clean up the oil spills and clean the air from petrol?

The companies that spill the oil are mainly the ones who are forced to pay for the clean up. As far as air goes, everyone who is buying a gas vehicle is paying for its better emissions when they buy it.

As far as cleaning the air goes, there are companies such as Carbon Engineering that have the backing of people like Bill Gates that are working to pull carbon from the air and make fuel out of it. They have stated that they could even pull more carbon than what is being put into the air by the fuel. However, they will need ICE vehicles around to buy the fuel so it can pay for the infrastructure. Without ICE, they would likely not have enough money to reverse the amount of carbon in the air.

Better tell Trump to get the ships out of the Strait of Hormuz and not worry about protecting the oil in Syria then.

So is that why Obama sent troops to Syria in 2015 and also why the dems chastised Trump for taking them out of Syria earlier this year? Let me guess, when the left does it is for humanitarian reasons, but when the right does it then it is for oil. Just like when Clinton ordered the military to attack Iraq in November of 1998 for reasons of weapons of mass destruction and not one person cried foul. Yet when Bush did the same for the exact same reason less than 5 years later he was a liar that was doing it for oil. Sounds legit.
