It is an interesting video, 30 secs vs 27 secs from 0-60 mph to me is not a great improvement over stock. I think a more practical test is 40 to 60 mph especially when facing a long hill that is when you need the extra performance.
You are right. In my experience with tuning other vehicles, the shifting is better and the vehicles do better on hills. I saw a big difference on my v8 Explorer even though it wasn’t a custom tune. When I had a Banks Power Pack, my Holiday Rambler with 460 did much better on hills. Hard to say how much of it was the tune and how much were the headers.
We’ve also started looking at Class As again. It would be in addition and not a replacement for the TC. We know Class As are much better for longer trips for us and plan to pull a toad to use. I’m on the fence between gasoline and diesel. The biggest pull behind getting a diesel is how much nicer the interiors are. It wouldn’t hurt that the engine will be in back with noise being less. Still, we know if we dropped some cash into a gasoline version for tuning etc, it would be fine for our use.
