Winter camping in a popup?

we have camped alot way into the winter months in our OFF-ROAD POPUP camper trailer... No problems at all keeping warm. Our Battery Bank is 255AHs Capacity and carry a 2KW Generator to recharge the batteries each day using the on-board trailer smart mode converter setup.

The battery bank and INVERTER setup allows us to use a couple of electric blankets that is nice as well... Our Propane Furnace is actually too hot for us and hate the loud BRRRR noise coming from the blower. It is actually our last resort heat source with thermostat turned down real low to only come on if temp gets below 35 degrees or so...

We only have one fresh water tank to deal with so can drain it and use the blow-out method for the small foot print water system. Can go right back to using fresh water tank again the next day by just adding water..

Don't think you will have any problems keeping warm with the Truck POPUP camper.

Not surprised the Salesman think that...

We have camped in 28 degrees with no problems at all,the heater in my 1603 works really nice. I do wish the fan was a little more quiet.

Why would you want to put yourself (and others) thru that?

THanks Roy - sounds like you don't use grey/black water tanks? How? Also how low did temps get - I wanna be ok to at least 0 degree lows at night. I love the idea of just blowing out the water system instead of doing the whole winterizing routine.

Dick - just a matter of opinion - I have camped in snow in a tent before without any heater. The idea of having a heater and showers is a huge upgrade.

Ruthie, check out http://www.wanderthewest.com/forum/index.php? . It's mostly a popup truck camper boondocking group and they might be able to help you with what you can and can't do in a popup. Keep in mind that by the time you get a popup decked out with a shower, it's probably not going to be much of a savings in weight over a similarly-sized hardside.

We have been down to -10 degrees several times with our Outfitter. No problems.

We do cover the large window by the dinette and that is about it. We have a heated basement and two 6-volt batteries. We have solar which generally helps and just in case have a 350 watt Honda generator for the starting battery, have never needed it.

We use the factory furnace.

Winter camping is good.
