I know most people usually head south and/or west for the winters, but I'm wondering if anybody goes northeast? We had a great first trip to Virginia in November, and the camper is still on my truck, just waiting for the next adventure. My wife & I have a seasonal business so we're pretty much off till May, basically we have a ton of free time but not a lot of cash (otherwise we would do a longer trip to somewhere warm!) We don't ski or snowmobile, but would still be psyched to get out on the road, probably NH, VT, or Maine (we are in Western Mass). Unfortunately most if not all of the campgrounds in this part of the country are closed til May.We have an older pop-up, but the weather has been relatively mild this winter, and we have a little Mr. Heater that cranks pretty good, so I think we'd still be ok. Any suggestions are much appreciated!

Find a tight, well heated garage to park in, and keep the door shut!

Hancock and Dolly Copp are open all winter in White Mts.If you don't ski, you can always hike/snowshoe.

Snowshoeing is like hiking on a smoother quieter emptier trail! I second that suggestion, you can easily rent them to give it a try.

We used to do that a lot, had mostly fun times and a handful of 'not so fun times' .
It's a good idea to call any CG that offers winter camping and ask what they use for a bath house.

Some CG's plow the roads and sites but give you pleasure to hike 50 ft thru 4-6 ft of snow to plug in.

One time we had a 26" snowfall and it took the Cg owner two days to plow the CG roads.

we stayed in one near Lake Placid that used one of the attached motel rooms as a CG bathroom that was kept at a toasty 45'F . One bathroom for the entire CG . Good thing we carry an electric heater.

Old Forge in NY was kinda nice, it offered a TV room to get you out of the camper for a while. Weekends are a bust...too many snow machines ride thru the CG. Mid week is always better anywhere you go .

We have tent camped at Recompense in Maine and it was great. Have heard of a few of those other spots, hopefully we can check some out soon.

We love winter camping. No crowds, quiet and those who are there are mostly quiet and peaceful. We also hike and back pack during winter month's

We have stayed at Meredith Woods campground in Meredith, NH. It's a few miles from Lake Winnipesaukee. They have an indoor pool!

I am also looking forward at a try at winter camping. We recently bought a new Adventurer 89RB. In the summer we have gone to Gunstock Mnt in Gilford New Hampshire. The campground is open to winter camping. We are going to try snow shoeing this year there. They offer rentals at their Nordic center. We do not ski. However the also have the longest Zip Line in the North East. We have done that in the summer. However it is open in the winter as well. They have heated bath houses within walking distance of the campsites. I also believe they have small cabin rentals as well.

Colonial mast on long lake in Maine is on a snow mobile trail. We don't do that but they have a real fireplace in the great room and a heated pool.
