Winter tires on f350

I've run dedicated Bridgestone Blizzak W965's on my truck for the last 2 years in both the High Sierras and Rockies. Highly recommend them.

The M55 is not a dedicated winter tire that is why in my post i said year around and said i used the Dean wintercat with studs which is a winter tire.

What has worked for me .
I have had more success by buying the cheapest load range E tire STUDDED that also has MORE SIPES from the factory .
I replace the snow tires with a lot more tread left than my highway tires .
The current set are cooper 265/75R16 load range E .
I have tried many brands and have tried to use the softer P rated but in big sizes .
I have tried the studded snow tires like BFG which have a bigger block design .
I have run separate wheels and tires for winter use since 1977 .
I have had a string of 3 /4 ton pickups that I purchased new every 5 years .
Because i am replacing the snows when the tread gets down to 3 /32 to 5 /32 " i find i am just better off buying cheap but with a Load Range E rating and studding them.
We live on a hill about 400 feet above downtown .
It can be down to bare pavement in town but still we have 2 inches at home .

I just ran my worn out Michelins last year but am considering the Nitto Crosstek HD as a year round tire:

The problem is I don't think they are available in Canada yet. I guess if you want to go the dedicated winter tire route you could buy some 18" rims and use the M55's.

For a dedicated winter tire i like the Dean Wintercat with studs. If not running a dedicated winter tire then M55 is hard to beat for a year around tire. I have M55's on both my trucks and had the Deans on my Dodge in the winter when i had it.

X 2 on the M55's best winter tire and long lasting. problem is can't em for 20" rims :(

If you don't break a lot trail, I like the BFG All Terrain. Great traction on ice and snow pack, although not great in deep snow, doesn't clean out well. I have Kelly TSR's on a 3500 DRW. Great tire in deep snow and good on ice and snow pack. Hankook ATMs good on ice and snow pack, never pushed deep snow with them.
