I have a similar setup. I have a regular backup camera on the back of my camper, plugged into a Wifi transmitter on the front of the camper. I connect to the wifi transmitter with an old cell phone and use it as an observation camera system while I drive down the road. Spent about $80 through Amazon buying the parts (camera, 903W 2.4 Ghz transmitter, longer RCA cord, 12 gauge wire for power and waterproof shrink wrap) and installed it myself.
Works great, have occasional stutter while driving down the road, but otherwise it works great for about 1/5 the cost of buying a name brand system.
