You cannot beat them join them, British Company humbled

Baily arrived on the scene here, with boasts that their lightweight Caravans would dominate the market here. After many clumsy attempts to get their product right, they have decided to raise the white flag and have some of their Caravans built here. This
Australian built Caravan will be shown at the NEC Show in Birmingham England.
Bailey slide-out breaks new ground

More details have emerged about the first Australian-built Bailey caravan with a slide-out, prior to its official launch at the Penrith Caravan, Camping & Holiday Expo from September 9-11.
Boasting an interior length of 21ft 7in (6.59m), the first Bailey Rangefinder Comet will feature a slide-out for the east-west queen sized bed that will protrude 600mm from the rear offside wall when extended.

The extra space will allow the fitment of a large, full-height side cabinet that runs along the wall facing the bed, incorporating a TV and washing machine.

The floorplan will also include a full width rear ensuite with separate shower and toilet, two-part kitchen and a spacious club lounge up front.

Bailey Australia is yet to reveal specific details about weights but claims the first Comet slide-out will be “more than 800kg lighter than competitors”.

Like other locally-built Bailey vans, it will be manufactured using Bailey’s patented Alu-Tech construction system and subject to ‘destruction testing’ at the Australian Automotive Research Centre in Victoria.
According to Bailey it’s the first time a Lippert flush mount, ‘cassette’ style slide has been used outside of prototypes in Europe. The slide together with additional alloy framing to support the structure will add around 50kg to overall weight.

In another ‘first’, the Bailey Rangefinder Comet will also lay claim to being the first Aussie built caravan exhibited at a major European show, when it's shipped over for display at the 2016 NEC Motorhome & Caravan Show in Birmingham, UK in October.

  • I like the light colors. It's a nice change from the dark, closed in feeling, interiors we see in a lot of units.

Generally they are pretty lightweight units here as well. Easy to tow. All up weight 4,600lbs

Same here. I also like that it strays away for the very traditional cabinet look and looks more modern and clean.

I agree. Also nice to see some couch material patterns that my great grandmother didn't have in her house. ;)
  • A new Australian Caravan manufacturer with experience in the Luxury boat building market

  • Pretty mean to tease us with these pics when we can get trailers like this in the US. Love the pics - hope someone builds something similar for us in the state SOON!

Seems to be a change in attitude and spending a bit more money, might bring about that change. Not just Caravans have some nice interiors, here is two Class C Motorhomes. I think changing the attitude to want something better, is going to be the main driver

Nice to see I'm not alone. The last several RV shows I've been to it seems that there is only one color from which to choose.

If you don't like brown you're out of luck........:E
