So how much is a brand new HD big block gasser going for?
Trick question. There are no big block HD gasses anymore. I know lots of people would love to see their return, but with small blocks getting north of 400ftlbs torque, maybe the big block's day is done.

... My biggest hold back is the price. NADA shows $13,000 and KBB shows $15,000 for excellent condition. The dealer says $16,000 is the price, take it or leave it.
I have seen and driven the truck, it is NOT in excellent condition. It has spent its life outside, has some rust, some interior damage, plating coming off the bumper. We have harsh winters here and the roads are salted. It is very good but not excellent.
I know it is an great combination for towing but what do you think of the price? Only drawback for towing is it doesn't have the extendable mirrors.

Sounds like normal wear for a 14yr old vehicle. Just give them your number and tell them to call you when they want to sell it. If they sell it to someone else so be it. When it get's near the end of the month and they still have it,I will put money on it that your phone will ring.

This may sound clichรฉ, but I recommend a Car Fax. Well worth it in my experience. NADA is what banks use, also go to AutoTrader and look for the same truck and see what they are asking. Book values can sometimes be misleading.
