1999 Snowriver Slideout

Have a 1999 Snowriver. The back of the slide out is no longer engaging while the front is doing fine. This happened suddenly after a trip last night. I am having a difficult time finding a mechanic that knows anything about Snowrivers. There is limited information online. The one item I cannot figure out is where to access the gears. The owner/builder, Bob, on an old post in 2005 mentioned the carpet under the dinnette, but that was for a travel trailer and newer model. The carpet under my dinette would only lead to the bottom of the slideout and not the area of the gears.

Any help would be appreciated.

Throwing this out there if anyone searches this forum for something similar. Saw a tech today and have an appointment with another in a month. At this point, the only way to access the gears that engages the slideout teeth is to remove the slide. I will update if the appointment next month changes that. For now, we were able to get the slideout moving again but the gear does not fully engage the teeth at times.

Perhaps you lost a roller or two and now it is not engaging the gear to the rack?

That sounds like the Powergear setup now owned by Lippert. Remove the inside kick plate on the slideout to access the motor and drive gears.

What kind of a slide system do you have? If it has a rack and pinion slide system the gears could be under the slide out. Access could be from a trap door under the carpet or by removing the coroplast underbelly.

Hard to tell the inner workings. All that is visible to me are two strips of teeth, the power drive head (barker) and a single drive shaft from the motor to the underbelly. I suppose I can remove the carpet from the step up to the dinette and check for a trap door, but since the slide out is stuck in the in position, I can barely reach that area.

Sounds like your drive mech (gears) are going to be in the underbelly. You'll have to get to it from underneath the trailer.
