Freightliner & Truck Camper

Don't know if this is possible. Thinking of getting rid of my F350 and get one of these. Really like my rig but I feel like the newer trucks aren't built to last (Let's not get into the Ford Vs Chevy Vs Dodge debate) I know some will say go with a motorhome at that point but I like having the freedom a truck provides.

Has anyone seen this used with a truck camper? Looks like cab height would be the biggest problem.

Yes that's a very good point on the leaking.

Setting it backwards on the bed may induce leaks. The panels are lapped with the expectation that water will be driven from the front.

You can use above deck storage boxes under the wings and cab over or make panels to enclose the areas.

Bedlam, You made me realize something I had overlooked. The Cab over section on the C-11 is not that long because of the sideways bed area. If I just set it back behind the cab I will not loose but maybe 1' of bed because I will not have to allow space for the door to open behind the cab. And there is the answer to my problem at last!!! That's what I will do. I have been pondering on this in my head for over a year.

It will definitely be used for Toys, and Firewood. Just not sure which way I will mount the camper. But the camper will be the 69 Avion C-11/ Its going on there one way or another. Will also be adding a receiver hitch, and maybe a 5th wheel hookup.

Do think you would exceed 14' in height if you put your cab over on top of the Freightliner's cab? You could get great storage for additional tanks and batteries underneath it and have plenty of deck off the back.

I'm almost positive it would be under 14' even with the AC, I tried to measure it the other day but I was out there by myself and it was windy.I measured from the ground to the top of the cab and then went out to the barn and tried to measure from the bottom of the cab over section of TC to the top of the AC. It would be a close fit, and I don't like to be white knuckling when I am out and about. Yes there is a lot of storage space under both sides of the bed. If it wouldn't look stupid I would turn it around backwards with the back door facing the cab, that would actually give me the easiest quickest access to the camper anyway. I would set it back 2' from the cab to give myself room to open the door and that would leave me with a 8' By 11' bed.

If you don't mind being seen in something that looks like a work truck, sure.

Those "beach boys" on the east coast would love your deck...wonder why we haven't seen one out there. This is going to be a fun rig. Keep posting. THX!! Mark, nice rig for sure. Where do you use the boat?

(What do you plan for the 24' deck? If you are putting a TC on it that will not go over the cab, you will have 4-8' left plus the area under the cab over. You could put the TC all the way to the rear and side load toys between truck and camper... )

The Frieghtliner is nice but the 550 will do.

Just finished up with the bed on my freightliner. Still not quite sure how to mount my TC.

Used to be a guy around here had a TC mounted on a Peterbuilt conventional. He had the big stacks, the crome air filters, cb ant the whole works. It was cool , no 4x4. He also had custom kayak racks 2 on each side. He had it for sale on the road and I think he sold the TC first. I always ment to take a photo just never had the camera when going by.
