Truck Camper Trip Reports

Notice of TR ownership transition, June 8th 2013:

I would like to thank all the die-hard fans of Trip Reports, both visitors and contributors, over the years who steadfastly paid homage!

As several members of RVnet Truck Camper Forum already know (and have known for some months), I will be transitioning out of Trip Reports, and handing the reins over to the very capable Sabconsulting (Steve) from henceforth.

I would like Members to join me n welcoming Sabconsulting as the new TR guru! This transition will be taking place over the coming weeks.

I thank all members who have taken time to contribute!
  • Inquirees have made me think a bit...

and to share 2012 SPRING LOOP

the general plan... miss the tornados.... be home before the first of June

We are heading south thru Jimmy Carter country to Tallassee... and he coast... getting away from the middle America E/W interstates and the tornado alleys.

We'll be heading west and then down toward Brownsville... then follow the border to NM... North as far as rocky Mtn NP and then head east thru Nashville toward the end of May... we have never been inside the State Capital.

I'll be posting some as we go...

PS... the camperport did great in the storms, no damage that I can see... best $3500 I spent last year. I highly recommend it.

  • I just took my vacation with the kids and camped with my brother. Couldn't have done it without the camper.

As I was perched on the rim of Crater Lake, I thought "Do that with a trailer!"

When I backed into a primitive spot and dropped the jacks late at night, I was glad to have my camp on my back...

When I unloaded it and put my truck to work, my brother was amazed. Actually, he was nervous, he'd never seen a ton wiggling on stilts before ;-)

Anyway, these posts are written mostly for family abroad rather than the TC forum, but if your interested, here's a link to my adventure.

    Enjoy, I certainly did!

I think all the pictures are too big to link to here...
  • Hi
we are making plans for a 'road-trip'----we are heading from England to Dunkerque,(France) in May, going accross Belgium and Germany and leaving North Germany by ferry to Sweden, going North to hit Norway above the arctic circle, going to Nord Kapp, then returning through Finland ---ferry to Eastonia,--- Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and back home through Germany etc.--------------Are there any RV.net members anywhere along our route ???????it would be nice to meet-up.
Anyone done this trip with any advice for us??------------------We are hoping to miss the snow/cold (but realise weather is a bit of a gamble !!) We have mossie repellant left over from Alaska----but hope (like Alaska) to give them the slip !!!!!!

  • The wife & I just got back from a trip up to the Clear Creek state forest in Clarion, PA.
We boondocked in an unimproved camping spot along one of the forest roads & woke up to 4"s of fresh snow! Burnt about 10 gallon of gas (454 in the old '86 truck)roaming the forest roads & did some snow hiking along with making mountain pies on an evening full of snow flakes. We spent 3 days & two nights up there, keeping it between 60-70 degrees in the camper as well as making breakfast & one dinner we burnt 25 pound of propane and went through about 2/3's of our battery power. All in all a great weekend.
