Missing catalytic converter
So we live in Minnesota and I went to where we have our motorhome stored to check on the batteries. Decided to start the motorhome to warm things up a bit and as soon as I turned the key there was a big boom and what sounded like the Daytona 500. Sure enough they got our catalytic converter. This is getting to be a huge problem at least in this part of the country. Talked to the manager and one of their trucks was also hit. There is a commercial property next door and 12 of theirs were taken. Police don’t seem too interested. Security system was not working but I don’t know what they would captured anyway. Like I said it’s winter here so everyone is wearing heavy jackets and masks. Talked to my insurance company (Progressive) and they were very nice and are going to take care of everything minus my $125 deductible. Can’t we get some laws past to prevent this???? So today we were headed out for the week. I decided to take off the cover to look at the relays. Pretty simple as there were only 2 screws holding on the relay cover. Manually actuated the armature numerous times. Since this ATS is basically new, everything looked pretty pristine inside. Put together a set of tools to take with in case surgery was required. Got to the campground and plugged in and no buzz. Everything worked fine. So either that fixed the problem, the problem is intermittent, or the threat of surgery scared it into working. Replaced my smoked transfer switch with the same model. Southwire/Surgeguard 41300. This is a basic model. My MH is a 2018 Class A Vista LX 27N. Replacement was pretty easy and straightforward. This was done last October just before it got put away for the winter. This spring brought it home and plugged it in to 15A circuit and it worked fine. First trip of the year it worked fine. Took a trip just after Labor Day and plugged it in and it buzzed like crazy. Ended up cycling the pedestal CB and after 4 or 5 tries and the buzz was gone. Was the ok for the rest of the week. Thought it was just a fluke or perhaps it had something to do with higher than normal pedestal voltage. Was reading 127V. Plugged in again at home after the trip and it was ok. Getting ready for another trip this weekend, plugged it in only for it to start buzzing again. Plugged and unplugged a few times and all was well. This is on a15A circuit reading 117V. Any ideas what’s gong on?????? All wires are tight and properly torqued. Bought a torque screwdrivers just for this purpose.1.7KViews0likes6CommentsPutting new decals over old.
I have a 2018 Winnebago Vista 27N motorhome and a couple of the silver decals have spots on them that looks much like the mold you might see on Diamondshield. Otherwise they are in great shape. They are firmly adhered with no cracks. All other colors on the MH are fine. Can I put new decals over the old ones? So here is my problem. 2018 Winnebago Vista class A motorhome with one slide out seal that has either detached or was never attached. The reason I say that is there is no sign of any tape or glue on either the rubber seal or metal piece that it should be attached to. I first noticed this when I saw a portion of the seal getting torn by the slide out track. I have identified the seal on etrailer and it appears it should attached with double back foam tape. Anyone had this problem and what did you use to fix? I have looked at some 3M VHB tapes but there are dozens of choices and you can’t buy small quantities. I would get a can of automotive clear coat. Mask it off to just expose the crack and spray away. If it’s a small crack you want something fairly liquid to fill the crack. The caulk may also work but I would be afraid it would attract dirt and look bad. A body guy told me the least intrusive method would be to give it a good coat of automotive wax. I ordered a Ford Transit Connect van and today marks week 27 since order. I was told 10 to 12 weeks even though it is built in Spain. ETA is now May14. No one can explain why but after seeing things on the news, the worldwide semiconductor shortage is real.
