I have decided I am going to trade, just have to decide which vehicle i will be trading for. I had a guy contact me this evening with 03 Excursion, 2wd, 3.73, Eddie Bauer, 130k miles. He is asking about $800 more than I am but I may be able to get a even trade!!! Now I need to look thru all the Excursion vs 2500 threads!!Re: Make the switch or not! What about the value of the Sub? specs on both 1999 2500 4x4 122k miles 4.10 posi rear LT model with all options, clean paint and body with no damage, typical leather driver seat issue, carpets clean and a/c system recently replaced but needs recharging. Tires ok, i would probably upgrade those, has a slight rear main leak and steering seems a little loose. 1999 F250 CC 2wd V10 107k miles XLT 5 seater, I have replaced 5 or 6 CP's, good tires and updated front end, 4.10 and posi rear, no leaks, radio needs replacing and a couple of other minor things need attention. I would say condition wise they are even, kbb says a $3k difference in m favor but the Sub would come in handy with the familyRe: Make the switch or not!Not to just haul my kids friends but to haul us as a family more comfortably!!Re: Make the switch or not!I usually average 8-9 towing the TT and the golf cart. I have read you could really wake up the 7.4 with a few mods, so I could use the $1500 to do a couple items if I decided to. It's really hard to get a real value on vehicles of this age, kbb says there is a $3k difference with my truck worth more, but we all know how that goes.Re: Make the switch or not!The suburban switch is very tempting and I believe I could get another $500 from him on the boot, he really wants my truck. We only camp 6 or 7 times a year at the most. Is the 7.4 as reliable as my 6.8 ? Will they tow about the same?Make the switch or not!Just looking for your opinions, my current TV is a 99 F250 CC 2wd V10 with 107k miles. Our TT is 32 ft and around 8k miles loaded and on beach trips we do haul our golf cart in the bed as well. Our dilemma, we are a family of 5, as our two oldest kids get older they desire to take friends along, my truck only seats 5. So, the way I look at it is I have 3 options. 1. Drive another vehicle on those trips when friends tag along 2. Buy a 2500/ excursion and leave the golf cart behind 3. Keep the truck and add a front bench seat and just be cramped up for the trips with extra people. I do have a guy wanting to trade me his 1999 2500 suburban-4x4 122kmiles 7.4- he would give me $1500 boot but afraid I would hate the IFS. Can anyone respond who has made the switch from SUV to truck or truck to SUV and what are your thoughts. Even with 5 in my truck we are cramped so the large SUV sounds nice in that aspect. To stay in the same price range I would only consider v10 excursions. Thanks. for your thoughts and input!Re: Brake controllerThanks everyone for the tips, I will start today checking wires and looking for loose or damaged connections. Its funny, I just pulled the camper home after purchase about a month ago with no issues. Mark and Linda, headed to Ocean Lakes, I have family in Murfreesboro, TN!!!Brake controllerWe have a beach camping trip coming up next week and wouldnt you know it my brake controler is acting up!! Hoping you guys can help. It is a Drawtite Activator II, I am getting an occasional error message. On my first and maybe second brake press the controller works as it should, but after that I get the error message and the trailer brakes do not work. Without the camper hooked up I get a . on the controller screen , the manual says this is correct, so I am only having a problem when camper is in tow. Any ideas? Is there a way to test it?Re: Post your tow vehicle pics hereJust recently purchased my F350 to tow our TT. Previous TV was a 96 2500 burban 5.7 C:\users\adam\Pictures\2010-01-29\072jpg Red bed cap has been removed!! Having trouble posting pic!!! Sorry!
