They went out of business around 2007. The last couple of years they went from making their own frames to using Lippert frames and had problems with the frames. They were built by Western recreation? in Washington state so are kind of scarce in the eastern states. They also have huge holding tanks, 100 gal freshwater, 100 gal gray water and 50 gal black water.I have a 2000 29 ft Alpenlite fifth wheel and after more than 50 years of rving with a lot of different rigs this is the best. Unfortunately my RV days are over due to my age and I am going to sell it. Good luck on your search.Re: Screen roomsDepends on how close you are to water or wooded areas. We have lived in Port Charlotte(about 35 miles south of Sarasota) for 10 years and have never felt the need for a screen room. Decide when you get there.Re: Reverse snow-birds.We have a mobile home in Port Charlotte and a park model in Seneca IL. When we leave in May to head north we leave on the AC which is connected to a humidistat. It turns the AC on when the humidity goes up to a level which you preset. Put up the hurricane panels and go. Our place in Illinois is a resident owned campground for RVs and Park Models. Very reasonable assoc. fees, ours is about $800 per year but that INCLUDES electricity. 2 pools and quite a few retired people for social activities. Check out the website, Woodsmoke Ranch Seneca IL.Re: tire pressure and valve stem issuesHere is a quick check of the tires that truckers use. Rather than crawl under the rig to check the inside tire (assuming you do not have valve extenders) hit both on the tread with a hammer. They should both be at about the same pitch thump. If one is a dull thud instead of a thump indicating a low tire you will hear it. Also many truck stops sell a small club for this called a TIRE BUDDY. It is wooden with a metal weight at the end. When I was trucking and would pull into a rest area to use the john I would take a walk around the rig and thump all the tires(except the steering ). Then if there were any shady looking people hanging around I would keep the club with me while I used the john. The sight of the club will discourage any person with bad intentions.Re: Scared of the windWhen you park it and leave it attached to the truck put the emergency brake on also. Enough rocking could damage the transmission.Re: Upgrading to a 5th WheelOne other thing I would look at is the angle of the front of the trailer. If it is angled back some there will be less wind drag and better mpg. Some of the big tall rigs don't rate too good in this area.Re: Tow Vehicle for 22,000 Pounds PlusI have a 2013 GMC HD2500 w/ 6.0 gas engine and a 4.1 rear end. It is rated to tow 14,400 lbs. I am not saying this is the truck for you but the info is for comparison purposes.Re: Anyone decided to leave RV year round in FL?We have a park model in Punta Gorda. When we head north for the summer we leave one vent window open a bit and that's about it. After seven years of this the only problem was slight exterior mold on the north side of it that comes off easy w/ soapy bleach water. You either need a lic. plate on it or a tax sticker which means it will be taxed as real estate. The summer sun is tough on things and every couple years I recoat the roof with some aluminum special roof paint from Home Depot.Re: Alaska Trip from FL (Size Limit Questions)I made the 15,000 mile round trip from Florida to Alaska a few years ago. This was at a time when gas prices were way up. At the time we had a 36 ft MH, a new car and a diesel pu truck. I did not want to get the car dinged up by gravel roads so we bought a used 20 ft TT for the trip. After the trip we sold the TT and everything turned out great. Glad we went and still talk about it. For the trip we averaged 20mpg instead of 8 mpg the motorhome got.
