I give this drive train two thumbs up. It's a shame that it is no longer available to the motor home buyer. We are considering buying a new motorhome but are putting it off for a while because this 8.1/Allison combo is just so good. It has over 76,000 miles on it and uses one quart of oil between changes. Not at all unreasonable. The day will come when we have a Ford V-10. I know I will really miss the 8.1/Allison.Re: Cracked SkylightIf a dealer would not allow me to inspect a motorhome, I would not allow them to sell me a motorhome.Re: Fuel mileageI've been driving in various terrain for the last few weeks. Had a low of 5.8 mpg and a high of 8.1 mpg. Very common for me to get about 7 mpg.Re: Are you scared of the mountains!!Nope. Not scared of mountains.Re: HWH fluid is everywhere--how much can we lose? aslakson wrote: Don't even try to open it until you get the jacks retracted - until the jacks are up, the whole HWH system is pressurized. The reservoir is vented and is never pressurized.Re: Tire AgeI think less than 6 months is acceptable.Re: Do you rent out your coach?Oh hell no!Re: black tank safe wet wipesNo.Re: Atlanta, GaBy Sunday the roads will be back to normal. There is always a fair amount of traffic in the Atlanta area. Try to avoid the morning and evening rush and you'll be fine.Re: do i leave the batt switches on when on shore powerIf the converter/charger is not "smart" and you leave the battery switch on when plugged into shore power it will boil the water out of the batteries and that is not a good thing. Ask me how I know. Safe travels.
