The OP asked a question comparing these hitches so I am giving my opinion and helping people that do not know there are other options out there besides the standard heavy expensive fifth wheel hitches. I know you don't have to be perfectly level or perfectly straight but there are significant limitations compared to a cup and ball. I can be way off in both directions and it still just comes on and off the ball with ease because I don't have to drive into or out of the hitch. Some of the places we go this becomes a problem for my friends. This is the real world of off road camping - not paved resorts. It's funny though, anytime I tell people positive feedback about this hitch it causes an argument. Enjoy folks just my 2 cents and experience with this hitch.Re: Trailersavor vs Anderson UltimateNo doubt the BD3 is an awesome hitch and has some articulation. The drawbacks are that it weighs 160 lbs, is over $2k and you need to be pretty level and straight with the trailer to hook-unhook. With the Anderson you can be un level and at 90 deg to your trailer and still hook - unhook with ease. It also rides great going down the road with no airbags to deal with. Extremely simple, easy to use and easy to remove.Re: Trailersavor vs Anderson UltimateI have the Anderson steel version. I have had it on two different 5ver toy haulers with no issues. 16400 GVWR and 18000 on my current trailer. This hitch works incredibly well. I ditched my 150lb+ slider hitch and will never go back. I can hookup and unhitch at any angle making it very nice when unhooking during camping. So easy to hitch up knowing the ball is inside the receiver and no issue of wondering if your lock bar captured the king pin or not. It also rides better going down the road than any of my friends even with their air boxes. Since the trailer articulates on a ball there is freedom in all directions. Some people are just afraid of change. Anderson designed this and stands behind the product with a 20k rating. Far superior in every aspect IMO.Re: What truck camper is on your 2500hd deiselAn 06 Af860 full wall slide on an 05 F250 4x4 CCSB with Procomp adjustable shocks, airbags and 3750lb tires - rides level and controlledRe: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?Replaced the cheap outside speakers with some nice Sony marine speakers.Re: Slideouts: Benefits and drawbacksFor me the slide out is the only reason a TC was even a consideration. Me DW and 2 kids in our 06 AF860 works. Having a full wall slide in a SB camper is incredible compared to a non slide. I am doing this on a SRW and towing a Mastercraft boat. They are taller and heavier but by setting the truck up right and driving smart this setup works fine.Re: Picking up new to me 06 AF 860Got it home - nice test for the truck - 2 hours of winding road in 30 mph winds. The truck did ok with air bags at 70 psi and shocks on firmest setting. Still feels a little mushy so I'm going add the helwig sway bar and stable loads. I need to get a plug that connects the camper to the truck - can I get this at camping world or similar?Picking up new to me 06 AF 860I just finished installing the airbags and happi jac frame mounted tie downs so that I can bring the camper home. I bought an 06 AF 860 fully loaded. I am sure it will be 4000lbs loaded and some say too much for my F250 but I will have to see how it drives. I put mono tube adjustable shocks all the way around and am going to put on a helwig rear sway bar. Anyone else with an 860 that can share advice on them. I am trying to decide in what batteries to go with -it says 2 group 29 will fit in the slide out tray. Should I do 2-6 volt or 2-12 volt? I am very excited to get the TC - we had one before about 8 years ago, and have had a fifth wheel until last week. Although we losing space we are gaining the ability to bring the boat and get back into camping at the lakes.Re: Any info good or bad on these campersI overlooked the wheels and now feel dumb for doing so - I thought the XD wheels that I put on were rated for more than the tires (3750) but I just looked them up and they are only 3200.Re: Any info good or bad on these campersThank you. For the responses - I should have added this in the beginning - I ave upgraded the tires to 3750lbs each E 285/70/17, Firestone 5000 airbags. I will be added helping 1.25 swat bars front /rear. I am a little confused on adding timbrens and torklift stable loads. Do I want the airbags to carry this weight or the stable loads/ leaf springs to carry load and just use air bags to keep from bottoming out on large bumps?
