Then I purchased a water heater fiberglass insulation blanket that measured 48" by 84". I cut the plastic lined insulation right down the middle so I had 2 pieces 24" wide to fit the sides of the cabinet. When I then cut these 2 pieces for the higt of the cabinet, I ended up with 2 pieces that was able to be fitted across the top of the refrigerator. Having the plastic lined insulation made it much easier to slide the refrigerator into place without it catching on the insulation.Re: Rid-A-RatRid-A-Rat seems to really work! A friend in Phoenix AZ was having problems with wires being chewed up. Then he installed a Rid-A-Rat in his engine compartment (15 months ago) and has had no more problems since. The flashing LED seems to be working to keep the rodents away!Re: Sewage elimination by exhaust heat...Sewage elimination by exhaust heat may be the trick to keeping people from following too close behind you. (I know, the idea stinks) Also installing a fuel filler neck into the black tank is a good way to get even with anyone that tries to syhphon your fuel.Re: Electrical issueYou most likely have a inverter/charger with a built in transferswitch. Such a device needs to have battery power even to operate enough to switch the shore power through it to the circuits that it provides power to.Re: Highway signsI have noticed that Mexican restaurants get free advertising by the signs that say "GAS FOOD NEXT EXIT"Re: cable routing for solar - vent pipe or drill roof?Mark, Up on the roof, you remove the vent cap from the grey vent pipe and fish the wire down inside the wall beside the pipe without it ever entering the pipe. If the hole through the roof for the vent pipe isn't large enough for the wire to enter beside it, you may have to remove the entire vent cap form the roof to enlarge the hole. Then reinstall vent cap while sealing it down with some fresh Dicor sealant.Re: inverter/converter problems? It is good that you turned it down to 20 amps. That limits the current into the charger so that the 25 amp breaker for the charger no longer trips and the batteries charge at a slower rate, thereby not heating the cables so much. For your safety, I recommend you have a professonel check things over.Re: Freedom 458 inverter not charging/no pass thruFor any of you around Quartzsite there is a solar store that repairs inverters including the Freedom 458 for usually less than half the cost of a new one.Re: increased insulation for refrigeratorWhen I Had may refer out to replace the cooling unit, I Cleaned out the messy insulation that was falling off the walls of the cabinet and replaced it with a water-heater-blanket from the hardware store. It worked out real good being 48"x76"x2" thick with plastic on one side. I cut it first for the hight then down the middle for two 2 foot wide pieces to fit the cabinet walls. Then the piece off of the top I cut and fitted for the top of the refer and insulate it too. Now when sliding the refer back in, it slides right by the plastic faced insulation.Re: Renovating my RigYou may Not want to add a washer/dryer for several reasons, just give it some thought. Not only does it take up valuable space, but it also introduces lots of moisture in the limited space that can cause a lot of problems during the cold winter months. Even though it may be less convenient, it is usually more practical to use the laundry facilities within the park or local Laundromat. Also most people always leave their water and sewer hoses connected up as you would have to with a washer/dryer. As mentioned earlier, you would have to deal with heated hoses during the cold months. What I do (w/o washer/dryer) is function from the internal tanks that don't see freezing temperatures. During a day off, hopefully when the sun is shinning, I dump the holding tanks, refill the water tank, and then put the hoses away. That way there are no hoses to freeze up. Also doing this in the sunny months the hoses last much longer while not always out in the UV rays.
