Re: Chevy/GMC DEF tank trouble
Traded my 2011 GMC 3500 last winter for a 2016 F-350. Nox sensors, couple DEF tanks, Last time it was in the shop they replaced the DEF tank, I drove it 70 miles and check engine light and poor quality DEF was on again. All of this in 40K miles. Traded it before the sun went down the day the dash lit up again. Alway been with GM trucks until this 2011 DMAX, not again any time soon..... Bad enough when you got legs to walk but when it go's to limp on I-40, 97 degrees, loaded with show horses and I'm in a wheelchair, then I had to go a different route. We got two 6.7 F-350's and not a minutes trouble out of either. Just towed 16000# LQ horse trailer 1000 miles, took 3 gallons of DEF to top off, DEF was full beginning of trip. 2011 GMC ext. cab 4x4 duramax/Allison. Truck averaged 9.3 mpg, kept speed at 67 mph and below. That's around 107 gallons of fuel, DEF usage within what GM says is normal....... My 2001 GM 3500 dually 8.1 may use a quart of Mobil 1 10W30 every 3000 or so miles. change oil when DIC says to do so, or once a year.. 115000 miles with original belts, plugs, wires, etc. Got a new Duramax in 2012, kept the 8.1 for my daily driver...942Views0likes0CommentsRe: New exhaust yes or no.
8.1 big cast stainless manifolds, it has two 3" pipes all the way back to the muffler, two 3" out and into a 3.5" single tailpipe... Truck's not turning 9000 rpm, that stock exhaust is plenty unless you got money to throw away, if so save a little for a good set of ear plugs...400Views0likes0Comments
