After seeing what it would cost to rent, I took my time and found a nice '92 Holiday Rambler Aluma Lite. All aluminum construction-no spec of rust anywhere. Well maintained. So well, infact that the dealer gave us a 30-day warranty on all systems and the drive train. This thing is a peach. A top of the line model in it's day, and it shows and drives well. I can use it for 3-4 years and probably sell it for 80-90% of what I paid for it ($7000).Re: Jack TV Antenna Vs SatelliteWhat's the typical cost of a crank-up OTA antenna including installation? Thanks,Re: Almost embarrassed to ask....Here's a suggestion you haven't heard before. Buy a used rig from a fireman. Yes a FIREMAN. They are fanatics about their equipment, and they are all experts in either plumbing, electric, engines, tool & die, or some other mechanical trade. Really. These guys are nuts for maintenance and take pride in how perfect their possessions are. Go to a local firehouse and just ask if anyone there owns a motorhome, and are they thinking of selling, or do they know someone who's selling? I bought my first one and by chance it was owned by an asst Chief who was moving up to a really big one. It was 18 years old and looked, drove and worked like it was 18 months! Good luck!Re: Newb question about fresh water tankGet a good surge protector! Sure, your insurance may fix/replace your microwave, TV, DVD, interior lights, etc.... but that's weeks or months down the road. In the meantime, your trip is shot to heck. Better to not have your stuff blow up in the first place.... Show me someone who travels with an empty water tank and I'll show you someone who has never had a breakdown in the middle of who-knows-where, with a wife, 3 kids and dog. You can't even wash your face and hands to cool off or clean off, not to mention no toilet to use. Fill the tank half way, at least. You've got five figures invested in your toy, you can afford the extra five bucks hauling that water might cost you. Cheap insurance!Re: getting older or smarterGotta tell you having a TAG axle makes a HUGE difference. Especially on a 32 foot rig!
