Order some Presta Super Cut Compound (Google it) and go to work. Follow through with some Meguiars #105 with your orbital and a yellow cutting pad. The Presta has a 600 cutting grit and the Meg's has a 1200 cutting grit which finishes to a mirror shine. We rarely ever wet sand going this route and our customers are wowed by the results. would this method work even if the clear coat is completely wore off ? You guys are talking two different finishes. Gelcoat and Clear Coat are different!!! If you have clear coat wearing off (clear coat failure), then it's time to have it re-painted.Re: restoring the shine Clear Coat aka Full Paint Gel Coat w/vinyl Decals Boats, RVs, Fifth Wheels can have Gel Coats Boats, RVs, Fifth Wheels can have Clear CoatsRe: Front Cap CleaningThe only way to tackle these oxidized caps is with a rotary polisher. If you haven't used one before, there's a learning curve to it. A rotary, some Presta Super Cut Compound or some Buff Magic will get the job done. Follow through with some Megs #105 with a orbiter and you'll see your reflection in no time.Re: restoring the shineYou should consider using or buying a rotary polisher. When you used the green stuff, the chemical became embedded with the paint, meaning that you will now probably have to paint. The finishing on your car hauler does not have a clear coat nor any other coating other than a very cheap paint job. Many older RVs with the sheeting are the same way. If you continue to try to remove the streaks, you'll soon find out that what you will be removing is the thin layer of paint until you get down to the primer or bare aluminum.Re: Removing 3m vinyl wrapFirst of all, the clear film that is installed on the fronts of RVs is not the same as the vinyl graphics installed on many gel-coated RVs... these are two different products. CrystalTek is designed for vinyl graphics, not for the clear shield such as "Diamond Shield" or "3M Clear Shield". Many companies use steam to remove these products while others have different methods. When this stuff starts to crack, it becomes very time consuming and with a lot of patience can take you several days. In most cases (not all), there's a good chance that some of the paint underneath could be lifted.Re: 303 Aerospace Protectant Question RedG wrote: This stuff is supposed to be some of the best for polishing and leaving such a slick surface that bugs don't stick to it. It's used by pilots on airplanes. I bought two bottles of it a while back, but haven't got a chance to use it yet, so I can't speak for it myself. 303 Aerospace is a good protection for many thing and has the highest UV protection. If you're looking for good protection as far as a shield against bug which will wash off easily, like mentioned already, Rejex is very good. We generally put it on the fronts of coaches only and wax the rest with another product, depending on rather the RV is gel-coat or clear.Re: New decals We just replaced new graphics on this Montana. We were able to order new ones from the factory, however they forgot to send the ones for the starboard side (passenger) so we have to recreate those from scratch. After a few measurements and some photos it will take a couple of days to get the new graphics and about 20 minutes to install. Complete price for bringing the gel-coat back to a new shine including trim molding restored and sealed, graphics stripped and re-installed - $1,800.Re: fair price for waxing a fifth wheel$10 a foot for clear coats (40' motor home = $400). Gel Coats start @ $10 a foot but can cost as much as $600 depending on how oxidized the gel-coat is.
