It is obvious that you do not know that the area we are camping in gets almost no visitors at any time of the year (the camp spots along the river), even during leaf time. Amateurs!! I do not think so. Camping since 1989, 42 states including Alaska. It kind of amazes me how people's feelings get hurt on this type of web site. You asked a question and people answered it. Some people are going camping and others aren't - it's as simple as that. No one preached at you - they just voiced their opinion on camping during a holiday weekend. Gee - if you don't want to hear answers - don't ask the question.Re: Battery QuestionSorry for the wrong terminology. The situation is that the pump works fine with 120, but won't work with 12 volts. So, as MEXICOWANDER suggested, I'll attack the wiring in the Converter and see of the pump is wired correctly or maybe there is a fuse problem. Either way, at least I know that the pump "should" work with 12 volts as I suspected. Time to put on my detective hat and see what's up - and learn something about RV wiring.Re: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?I finished the paint job on my 1990 Sun-lite 850WT. Then tonight I installed a set of StableLoads. The first test drive was fantastic.Re: Battery QuestionI figured it should work on 12 volts too. It works fine on 120, is there a seperate fuse that would affect 12 volt operation? I'll check the panel tonight, but is the pump 12 volt and the inverter steps 120 down to 12 for normal operation?Battery QuestionThis topic has been moved to another forum. You can read it here: 27878406Battery QuestionLet me first start out with this disclaimer - I know NOTHING about the electronic workings of my TC. I have a 1990 Sun-lite 850WT. There is not an installed battery in the TC, but one of the former owners (I was told - it might be factory original) put a plug in the outside drivers front side to allow the hookup of a battery. The TC has an inverter built in and almost everything works great in whether 120 mode or with a battery hooked up to this plug. Now my question - in battery mode, all the lights and fans work great, but the water pump doesn't come on. Under normal circumstances, should the pump work in this mode too? Is it possibly wired wrong, or should it even work on 12 volts?Re: back up camera questionsI installed the 7" Monitor with Wireless Mounted RV Backup Camera from Tadi Brothers. I too hooked the camera up to the clearance lights so they have to be one for the camera to work, but that allows me to check behind me at any time, not just in reverse.Re: back up camera questionsI just installed a wireless camera and monitor on my TC and I am very pleased with the way it turned out. Yeah - it flickers a little, but I have it set up so the camera is powered by the running lights on the TC and it works fine, even on the highway. The set up was easy - just a couple power and ground wires to hook up and no snaking wires thru the truck and the camper. And, I didn't have to splice the wire so that I could unhook the TC when I take it off. It's not perfect, but I'm very satisfied. Also - I mounted the camera high on the TC so it shows a wide view behind me.Re: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today? Finally got the camera part of my TADI Brothers wireless setup installed. Bought the set during the winter and got the TC out of storage last weekend. The camera/monitor works great - now I can see what's going on behind me.Re: Roof Type Jfet wrote: moomps wrote: Gee - I think I understand your suggestion. I'll get out my protractor from gradeschool so that I can make sure it's at a perfect 45 degree angle. As silly as it sounded, it actually *does* work. After I posted that I went and tested on the aluminum of our RV roof using a 1 inch square half inch thick rare earth magnet. The magnet moved VERY slowly down the incline because the induced eddy currents acted to attract it toward the aluminum. It really is pretty neat. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't suggesting that your plan wasn't valid at all. I just question whether it makes any difference whether the roof is aluminum or steel as to how I go about protecting it. I understand why I would need to know if it was rubber or some metal, but I beleive it is some sort of metal and I am looking for ways to seal it from the elements. Sorry if you took my response wrong.
