The two handled valve looks like it attaches to a box with four screw on the shower surround. If you remove the four screws, can the entire faucet be removed ? Or do you have to access from the back side of the valve ? There is not an access panel in the wall directly behind the valve, but there is a panel beside the tub right above the floor. I'm not sure if you could reach in and access the back side of the faucet from that panel. Does anyone know if removing the four square head screws would allow the faucet to be removed and replaced ?Re: Repairing Tub ValveThanks -- I'll give it a try.Re: Repairing Tub ValveBruce, Would you just cut one slot across (perpendicular) the threads, or would you do that in several places to get the threads out ?Repairing Tub ValveI have what I believe is a Utopia 4" tub/shower valve with separate hot and cold valves and a connection for the shower. The cold water stem assembly had stripped, so the water would not turn off. I got a new stem assembly, but part of the plastic threads are stuck in the faucet, so I can't screw in the new stem with the old threads still there. I tried using an sharp punch (like an ice pick) to try to get the broken threads to unscrew -- with no luck. Anyone have any tips on how to get the old broken threads to unscrew out ? If I have to replace the entire tub/shower valve assembly, is that easy to do ? I do see four screws behind the valve assembly that may can be removed to access the back side of the valve. Could someone step me through the replacement process ? Thanks.Re: DuoTherm A/C Condenser Fan Blade RemovalChris, Thanks for the advice. Do you just go about breaking off pieces of the fan blade assembly, or maybe take a Dremel and cut/grind a slot in the hub ? Also, do the replacement blades come with a new screw clamp to hold the blade onto the shaft ? Do you need to sand the shaft to remove the rust before putting the new blade on ?DuoTherm A/C Condenser Fan Blade RemovalI have an older DuoTherm rooftop A/C unit that somehow the plastic condenser fan blade has gotten cocked a little sideways and is off-balance, causing a severe vibration. I took the shroud off, expecting to find a dirt dauber nest on either the squirrel cage wheel or the condenser fan. Instead both were clean -- just the hub of the plastic fan was cocked. From the looks of the rust on the shaft clamp, it's been that way a while and just now the motor bearings may have worn enough to cause the vibration. My question is this: how do you remove the plasic fan blade ? I tried loosening the clamp that holds the fan hub to the shaft, but could not budge the fan blade off the shaft. I could loosen the screw that that was it. I did not want to try to push too hard for fear of breaking off a blade and really being stuckwith no A/C. Any tips to try to loosen or get the fan blade off the rusty shaft ? I plan to buy a replacement blade and have on have on hand in case I have to destroy the old one getting it off the shaft.
