Suddenly I could cook and cleanup inside. Big kitchen area (though I still prefer to cook outside). It was nice to have a bathroom, too. The bunk area ceiling is lower than on a normal popup, but not bad. When the kids moved out, we wanted to go back to something smaller so now we have a 2417 Trailmanor.Re: Need Chicago helpthe buses are excellent. Use google maps to help you. The Driehaus museum is walkable from The John Hancock stop, and should be a pleasant walk. BTW consider eating lunch at the restaurant that is just one floor below the top of the Hancock building - get a great, uncrowded view of the place, for about the same price you would take to go to the top. Or just get a drink. The Cultural Center near the Millennium Gate (Jelly Bean) is also a must see. I would go to that over the Clarke and Glessner houses if you have limited time.Re: Camgrounds around Carlsbad/OceansideIf I had kids (and I used to, before they grew up and moved out), Campland on the Bay would be the place to go. If you do not have kids, the place might seem a bit hellish. It is an amazingly high energy place, but there were wall to wall activities for the kids and they loved it. We used to go in the off season (homeschoolers) and there are a large amount of kids who live there year round, so it was quite a gang of kids.Re: California state parks dgaln wrote: When I'm checking out Cal. state park campgrounds, camp sites are listed as "Standard". I am aware that California abhors FHU sites; is "Standard" sites include electricity and water? I'm checking state park beaches in the Fort Bragg, CA area: I'm aware that it's impossible to have sewage hu's near the ocean. They will specifically say if they have electricity. If you go to ReserveAmerica you can filter on sites with electricity. I am pretty sure if they have electricity, they will have water, too. Sewer is less common. Standard means RVs can use them (with length restrictions), as opposed to 'tent only' sites. I do know a CG near me (Pismo Beach) that has a service truck that comes around to empty/fill tanks. I assume this is an enterprising (and brave) local person. I wonder if other CGs have this.Re: Solvang/Buellton other RV parks when Flying Flags is full? You could go north and stay in Pismo. Then you can go to the Edna Valley Wineries, and still be fairly close to the Foxen Canyon Wineries. You could even bop up to Paso. (I live P/T in Pismo and we do a lot of wine tasting :-) )Re: Swingaway storage pod/bike rack combo big whitey wrote: Sent them an email a couple of weeks ago but I haven't received a response. They are definitely spendy. You would think someone else would offer something similar. I think that link I posted to the article explains it - the Stowaway decided the engineering issues were too great to add bike racks to their boxes. So the one from Canada did solve the problems, but it would explain why it cost so much. And, at that price there is probably not a very big market.Re: Class B for 3?Checkout Sportsmobile - they will make what you want, and they have drop down bunks.Re: Swingaway storage pod/bike rack comboWhy not just hit the contact tab and ask them in email? Then you do not have to call, or deal with a possible language barrier. But, from a couple of years ago - http://roadtreking.com/second-thoughts-about-the-stowaway2-cargo-box/ $2100 (CDN) and they do not ship to the US, but that might have changed.Re: paying taxes on sale of used pop upThey will pay it when they register the vehicle. Only dealers collect the sales tax. BTW, I think it is smart to let the DMV know you sold the vehicle, just in case your buyer gets lazy.Re: Colorado Campground - Beware of Cancellation PolicyI once booked at a CG (no need to tell you the name, it has been taken over by the park services.) After I reserved the confirmation letter said absolutely no refunds. Well, I did end up having to cancel and that is when they told me their policy (I obviously did not bother reading the confirmation letter). I asked them where it said that on the site, before I reserved and they told me I was told after I booked. I pointed out that was unreasonable - their policy was not typical of most parks, so they should inform people before the reserve. I told her I would be taking it up with my CC company. She angrily replied "FINE! if that is the way you want to be about it, I will refund your money!" Kinda reminded me of my daughter when she was 3 (If you dont give me a cookie, I will never eat another cookie, ever!) I did not bother to tell her I would have paid for one night. I just sort of laughed and said OK (same response I used to give the 3 year old, btw)
