I wore jeans all week. We liked Munising Tourist Park. I wish they didn't have so many lights at night. We did the Pictured Rock boat tour. Sit on the right side so you see the rocks going out. The falls tour uses the Catamaran, larger nice boat. We stayed at Indigo Bluffs. The RV park side is really nice but very pricey. The campground is nice but most sites are sandy and four sites share utilty post with 4 water/power. Bring extra hose and power cord for this trip! There are web sites to monitor favorable conditions for northern lights. Have fun planning! Marcia We are looking at Indigo Bluffs for 2019 mid-July. We are concerned at the CG side but should be doable but may splurge and stay on the RV side - live it up a little. Thanks for your experience and will look at the tours. MarkRe: Auxiliary Diesel Tank Gravity Feed vs. Electronic pumpI have had my gravity fed 50 gallon external tank for about 3 years. It definitely has paid for itself with fuel savings. Kroger point and cheaper diesel in particular states.Re: Andersen Ultimate 5th wheel - dents in bed WTP-GC wrote: prfssr wrote: I remove my AUH about 4 times per year to clean the bed, carry other items or do further inspections of the unit and the bed of the truck. As a AUH user, I'll be honest here... If I only had to remove my hitch 4 times a year, I'd always pick a more traditional style hitch unless there were some other reason for needing the AUH. Note that when I was using the AUH, it was on my flatbed and I had no other decent option available without having to make some mods to the bed. We don't full time and only use the truck for now to tow the 5th wheel. I move my golf cart from house to seasonal campground at the beginning of the year and then back at the end. I then use the truck in the summer time to get yard stuff, etc. I do not want to bother other folks to help me move a full size hitch, don't have shop that has a hoist to remove and the wife is not capable to help - hence a nice 72 lb. removable hitch that has worked well with my application for 3+ years.Re: Andersen Ultimate 5th wheel - dents in bedI have been using the AUH steel version (non-rail) for almost 4 years on the same truck. I have a Rhino spray in bed liner and have zero indication of bed dents. I remove my AUH about 4 times per year to clean the bed, carry other items or do further inspections of the unit and the bed of the truck. I have not seen any type of wear on anything. I have reviewed the bolts to ensure no stretching or distorted threads - again with no issues found. I have had on one trip the 2 front bolts come loose but the top one remained tight. I torque them accordingly and have had zero issues or concerns. If a "bed dent" is the crushing of your spray in bed liner then it may be a thin area when it was sprayed. I am unsure without seeing photos of what your classifying as bed dents. Anyways - my AUH has performed flawlessly.Re: Honda Generator "revs up" every 20-30 minutes?Fridge comes on? This would explain a split burst of power. Just a thought.Re: deezee aux fuel tankI have a Lund 50 gallon aux. gravity fed tank. I installed it about 1 year ago. I have a solenoid in line along with a switch in the cab of the truck to turn on and off (open/close). I drilled out a hole in my filler neck and welded a bung to it. Tested for leaks and attached the fuel line from the solenoid to it. From my tank to the solenoid is about 12" of line. When the solenoid is open to fill the tank it is slow but keeps up with the truck when traveling. I accidentally left my switch on (open) one day at work - oops. When I got out of work the truck was "full" to the level of the bung / incoming hose and did not fill over that. I did put a shutoff valve coming out of the tank for emergency in the event. I was concerned about that my truck, 2015 Ram would throw a code but in the 1 year of using it, nothing. Even my "distance to empty" gauge in the truck calculates as it fills going down the road. :)Re: Def fluid Rancher Will wrote: I own a small trucking company, two cattle ranches and I pull our Montana 5thWheel with a diesel RAM truck. On average I pay for over 150 gallons of DEF per week. I learned that I save over $2.00 per 2-1/2 gallon jug by my employees buying at WalMart rather than at truck stops and other sources. We have had no problem with WalMart DEF in the Blue jugs plus it is cheaper than even bulk supply. So, I guess it depends on where you live but I am in Kentucky and it is definitely cheaper to buy at a truck stop at the pump. Truck stop at the pump = $2.679 per gallon DEF at Walmart = $10.98 + .66 tax = $11.64 divided by 2.5 gallons = $4.65 a gallon. I am unsure how buying the box is cost effective. MarkRe: Portable generator recommendationsI have 2 3500W Champion Inverter that I parrellel so I can run both AC's, tv, micro, etc. when we dry camp at races. I used to have 2 Honda EU2000 parrelleled but those were not enough juice for the new camper with 3 AC's. Those Hondas lasted me 10 years and I got back 80% of my money once I sold them. Good luck and enjoy.Re: anderson ultimate hitchI have had the steel version of the Andersen for 2 1/2 years. I have towed a 13k front living (8,000 miles) and now a 15k Heartland LM (2200 miles). As someone earlier said I removed my center headrest from my 2015 1 Ton Dually Ram and can view the hitch (ball) with no problem. I use a Curt gooseneck ball that fits in the puck system of the bed. I then use the Curt safety chain that fit into the puck system for added safety. I usually place the ball of the Andersen in it's most upright position so I get maximum clearence of my bedrail and my 5th wheel sits level. I thouroughly inspect all weld joints prior to every trip due to any potential weak points. I really like this set up as I use the bed of my truck for a lot of things and I can take this in and out by myself easily. Everyone has their preference just like the make of trucks so for me the cost, easability of removal and smoothness of the ride is perfect. Good luck on your quest and happy camping.Re: 2017 Ram 3500 6.7 Cummins RecallYup, got mine last week and since I was already headed to the dealer for 2 other recalls they checked this one. I will get a new one once they submit a fix for them, meaning getting new ones out to the dealers to repair. They did a program upgrade and a Catylytic converter exchange.
