I did the upgrade on a previous rv and it was easy to do and worked well, especially with the charge programs pigtail.Re: Inverter too small?x3 also don't (ever) use over 50% of capacity before recharging if you want the battery to last.Re: Backing Tips to save your marriagefirst trip out in our latest (new to us) rv and my wife hops out to watch me back into our site. I keep an eye on her in the mirrors as well as keeping an eye on everything else. I've got the windows down so I can hear anything... 'Stop' she shouts. I say 'what?'. 'You've hit a tree' says she. See what a moments inattention causes. the problem and I really mean this is I should've remembered that backing up is my responsibility despite what's been taught, said or agreed to. Anyway, it don't look that bad now I've knocked it out. Pity the backup camera NEVER works when it's actually needed.Re: Best Navigation unityes, and my personal preference is to read the signs rather than place too much faith in what the GPS says. stories abound of people following their GPS and coming out worse off. as an aid they're great but I'd only have myself to blame if it made a fool out of me.Re: TV Cable Ties brittle on roof due to UV. What to do?I'm not sure that SS clips aren't going to affect the signal in the cable (unless it's armoured), reflections and whatnot? my cable runs are held in place using blobs of non-sagging lap sealant. (and) while I didn't much like the idea to start off with, it's been fine and does the job well.Re: namemaria. think about it...Re: Best Navigation unitif you're willing to pay premium prices then get a premium gps. these RV models are two years behind the times. I have a garmin 3597LMTHD and very nice it is too. a 7" low res screen might be okay in an A class but being able to move this 5" high res GPS around gives it far more value (to me) than the $20-$30 premium cost over RV units. If I wanted all the campsites, goodsams & CWs (which I don't) I can install the POI files for them. just the screen clarity and ease of use was enough, the rest is a bonus.Re: To Awn or Not to Awn?if it's used and doesn't have an awning it is more than likely an ex rental unit. bear that in mind.Re: Putting a boat in the waterI've used a 23.5' E-350 phoenix cruiser to launch my sailboat (23'). It's straight forward but a big novelty for the idiots that like to watch in the hope that you get into trouble. As the sailboat had a small keel, I would be in water all the way to the front of the rv before it was deep enough for the boat to drift off the trailer. There's no problem unless (as some one said earlier) you stall. Then you're in trouble. I never had that problem myself. With a longer class C, the problem I can foresee is if there's a lip at the top of the slip. with the long overhang, the front of the trailer might be so high in the air that the back hits the slipway. It really depends on what's on your trailer and is something else to eyeball at the slip before entertaining the idiots. Putting a tow bar/ball on the front would be a viable fix for a slip with a significant lip though.Re: Looking at an '03 Gulfstream BT cruiserI had a very similar phoenix cruiser 2301 for six years which I've just replaced with a BT cruiser 5291. the phoenix was well made, much better than the new BT. the phoenix was also laid out far more sensibly for the available space (than the 5291) and I'd opine there's enough room for 2 to live for a month comfortably. Those twin jack knife sofas are okay if you can live with them. We would set up seating outside.. chairs, table, gas cooker, etc. and leave the sofas as beds. It worked for 2 of us but like everything in an RV, it's a compromise that you have to live with. So make sure you're okay with that. mileage on the van is higher than I'd like. maybe some leakage at the cab to coach seam behind the passenger seat. BT looks much the same beast as phoenix apart from a slightly different arrangement for kitchen, bath & wardrobe which looks 'better' in the BT. paid 19k from a dealer six years ago so I'm not keen on the price of this one at all.
