Great batteries and very heavy. For mounting/acid control i used dog food bins from Petco. I mounted them directly to a wall using sheet metal screws near the top of the bin to keep them from tilting since we do a ton of boondocking down some bumpy roads. Have not had any issues with them. Like stated before on solar, if your charge controller cant handle the extra panel then there is not much of a benefit to another panel. 160 panels should be ok as long as you arent trying to dry camp with your fridge and a ton of stuff running. I would use one of the online Amp/watt useage worksheets to balance your solar if you are lookin toward that. that being said, my batteries are fantastic. I like them alot. Oh and yes they do make boxes for these but good luck finding a spot to fit it :) they use these batteries in heavy equipment and cellular back up systems so they are pretty heavy duty. good luck/ SplitRe: Grand design momentum or jayco seismiclove my momentum and the responses (even on weekends) from their senior staff to fix issues is phenomenal. I thought customer service was dead in the RV industry (dealer notwithstanding) but i was wrong. GD gets 5+ in my book.Re: Voltage slidesguess they finally learned their lesson.....hydraulic for me plz :)Re: Better Made?I had a very well made 2009 Ragen that i really thought was well built. Then my wife and i decided to look at 5ver's. i just spent 2 years looking at FW toyhaulers, my favorites were raptors and fuzions. I looked at everything i could find in Arizona (Toyhaulers are huge here in the desert and much more expensive because of that- lol) I narrowed it down to a Raptor until i looked at the Grand Design. I now own a 385th Momentum and we love it. I could go on about it but we all have our opinions so i am sure you will get to hear others...goodluck! I believe that Grand Design is the only Toyhauler Manufacturer that will still warranty their RV if you full time in it, which says something i think.Re: 5500 generator keeps shutting down after break in oil changeoops nevermind, sounds like you are dealing with a new one! argghRe: 5500 generator keeps shutting down after break in oil changethere was a point (dont recall exactly when) that cummins/onan replaced or removed a inline fuel filter and when you did a service on them they would do what you are describing. I can't remember what part was replaced, when or if you simply removed the old one or replaced it with a different part number...I keep thinking it had to do with starving the carb of fuel for some reason...Sorry its been a few years since i had to deal with that...I didnt find out about until one of my friends went into the Onan dealer and spoke to them...Re: How to tell a quaility RVi just spent the last year looking at Toy haulers. I narrowed it down to Raptor, Voltage, Cyclone and Grand Designs. The quality across the board varies greatly from unit to unit. We bought a Grand Designs momentum and it arrives at our place today :) The easiest thing to look at on a lot of the units was simply just the caulking/alignment between panels both interior and exterior. Some of the cyclones i went into there were trim pieces falling off, lights hanging out et but some were pretty decent. We felt that the raptors were really nice as well but in the end it seemed and felt (to us - OP's vary) that GD was the best built rig. Also i went to the owners forums and read a lot on all these manufacturers to see what people dealt with. There is a ton of storage space in the GD Momentum line. My wife liked the voltage a lot but i couldnt get over the schwintek slides..I would say narrow it down to the floorplan that suits you and then find the manufacturers that built that style and check out the quality. Being a fulltimer i am sure your needs are more than mine! good luck! SplitRe: Toy hauler weight questions?i am with Lincster as well. My ragen fsc2800 was very well built but because of that she was pretty heavy. I towed with a 08 chevy 2500 on bags and though it towed ok, my dually towed it better. Course that's overkill. :)Re: Finally pulled the trigger....leftover 2014 Impact 303hmmm i would think its almost cheaper time and money-wise to hire a hotshot driver. I had a quote from Virginia to Arizona for 1200$ Thought that was a decent price if i was going to save 5-7k on a rig. splitRe: Patio Option on THwe have been doing this for years in our camp groups toyhaulers with some jack stands and blocks. Course we were't as fancy as they are now with the rails/steps etc...
