All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Camping aloneI have enjoyed camping alone (by alone I mean with my SO, so far have not camped by myself completely yet but would not object to it) as well as in a crowded area. Honestly, I like both scenarios, as both have pluses and minuses for me. I like the solitude sometimes, but there are other times I really don't mind the crowded CG's as I also enjoy some nightlife and still like to stay up late and don't get irritated by noise past quiet time (within reason. people up late partying and not being TO obnoxious is one thing but if the dog is barking incessantly all night my nerves will be seriously plucked!). CG's with more people do open up more situations to get near a clueless neighbor whose behavior can get downright egregious at times, but so far in all of my many years of camping the times that I can count where I had a neighbor who was downright obnoxious and belligerent can be counted on one hand and not even use all the fingers. Camping can come in all forms and the cool thing is there is a venue for virtually every choice.Re: Camera shopping: shutter lag? troll3193 wrote: We have owned about 6-7 different point and shoot cameras over the years... And I can completely understand the shutter lag you mention.. The point and shoot camera I have been most happy with the results from has actually been my iPhone... FWIW, Bryan Same here. I have searched high and low for the best point and shoot camera. Since I have gotten the newest iphone, I have found that it takes better pics than any of my former point and shoots and has the added benefit of being very compact, and it is the one thing I always have with me so rarely any missed shots. The camera in the newest iphone (and maybe other versions as well, I just haven't owned them) takes really great pictures. I would prefer more zoom, but can make the sacrifice not having it by not having to lug around a bigger camera. The zoom is good enough.Re: Am I the only one???? bertnspike wrote: No, but after a few days of using only my iPad I end up poking my iMac screen and wondering why it's not responding.... If I take anything away from this at all, it's that people don't like barking dogs, and that our trees need to be trimmed a bit! Hope you're all having a good weekend! IN all seriousness, dogs who are left in campers who bark the entire day really are an issue for those who want to enjoy their time at their site during the day. I have rarely made a complaint in all of my years of camping but the one thing that will always make me feel like I am going mad is that family who leaves fido (or multiple fido's) in their rig and takes off the entire day and the dog(s) bark the entire time non stop. Luckily this hasn't happened often, but the time or two it has, it really, really raked my nerves. But it always comes down to that 'my dog doesn't bark' thing when people discuss this topic. Well, somebodies dogs are barking. lolRe: Forum Question pitch wrote: Just a bit of pot stirring here. Why do people either not read a post or fail to comprehend the thrust of the post if they do read it? I am referring specifically to the common campground complaint post of yesterday. The OP asked for common complaints that management had control over. To me this means facility, infrastructure, or policy problems. A few poster did address the OP's question, while the majority jumped in with the usual inane litany of people problems which equates to if you are not exactly like me you are an inconsiderate boob. The question in that thread asked what are common campground complaints. The way I see it the majority DID read the question and responded with what they have seen in their day as the type of complaints that CG owners get. What part of that is so confusing to you? Even if you don't understand why anyone would make those complaints, to the person responding, those are the types of complaints that they noticed. I don't think their reading comprehension was off. I think your interpretation of the post was the one that is a bit constricting. Did you ever stop to think maybe your interpretation wasn't the exact correct interpretation? In my opinion the litany of people problems you are speaking of ARE in the management's control. People being too loud after quiet hour, children out of control, incessant barking dogs...just to name a few... ARE issues a CG should manage if the campers in question are breaking CG rules. In my time so far of camping at virtually all types of CG's - very quiet ones, extremely busy ones, in between ones....it is usually the very busy ones at near or full capacity that will have many more 'people problem' type of complaints, but those complaints still have to be managed by the CG managers and many of them are legit. Just because a person is ignorant of the rules of the CG doesn't mean they should have full reign to disobey them to the point that the comfort of others are sacrificed. There will always be a fine line in enforcing them as some people will complain about everything - but you can't assume that everyone of those complaints are not valid and not issues the park management should enforce.Re: Is this camping? bukhrn wrote: It's theirs, they can call it anything they want to, I'll do the same, I call what I do camping, even though I know that technically, it's RV'ing, I gladly gave up camping when I got rid of the tent. ;) I hear ya. Same here. I still enjoy occasional tent camping, but I have no shame in admitting that these days if I am going to camp in a tent I need good weather. The bones are not as forgiving as they once were in a tent when it is too cold out and no air mattress is as comfortable as my bed in the TT.Re: Strangest thing asked to borrowI have never been asked to borrow anything but myself had to once ask to borrow the neighbors kid to squeeze into a window when we locked our keys in camper. I was so moved at how they were so willing to help! That kid fit right into the window opening and went right in and unlocked our door!!!! And the kid felt like a proper hero for helping us out. (and we made him feel like a proper hero)Re: Dealing with elderly parent while on the road Padlin wrote: Assisted Living, take Mom along, or forget the MH for a while. Markiemark32 wrote: Visited a NC Campground this past holiday, [COLOR=]4th of July!! This particular campground had quite a few Seasonal / rigs that are left year round. Three quarter of them had rv-carports, setups over the RV’s. Several with porches, living space under the shelter, etc… Couple of thoughts/questions It is unfortunate that an RV can’t take the weather. Does this seem like camping? This particular campground is part of a Boat Mariana and Lake Access. Many to most of the RV’s are boaters, probably just need area to sleep and access after being on the lake. Markiemark Sure it is camping. Looks like seasonal or permanent set up camping. I have been to some CG's with seasonal campers and they have set ups like that. ANd to many who have a camper with a set up like this, they view it as a summer or seasonal home. If it works for them, who are we to judge? I even view my own TT as my 'summer home' even though it is mobile and I don't have a patio or carport set up. It is our home away from home, mostly in the summer since we don't have an unending amount of vacation time off from work. Camping means different things to different people. Some may tell you that if you camp in a PUP or a TT you are not 'really'camping as you need a tent. If you are out there having fun and believe you are camping, then you are camping.
