There is an application (app) for it called facetime that you can see who you're talking to and vice versa if they have a 4G iphone with the same app! This will be great for RV'er's on the road who don't get to see their family for long stretches of time. You can see the grandkids grow and they can see who you are and hopefully not forget you! I currently have the 3 G and will upgrade to the 4 G soon and I can't wait!Re: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & GizmosWe bought a small (about 13 1/2 x 15 1/2 inches) with 6 drawers on rollers. I used it in my office at home to hold all the 'junk' you need...paper for the printer (which sits on top), scissors, tape measure, pens, etc. It's a great end table as well as storage unit. When first we moved into the 5'er it was just that - an end table. Then I rearranged and put the printer on top. I think I like the printer elsewhere and use it as an end table with a plant on top. Utilizes every inch of space. Got it at Walmart...about $30.Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story} whimstock wrote: ladymc53 wrote: I saw on another thread, however, that you are taking your cat Barney with you. I would think that he would bring along the same boarding issues you mentioned regarding Cy. :h Regardless, it's a sad situation.... Nice thoughts, Richard...and you are right, as usual. Cats don't require as much attention as dogs - some may disagree here, but I've had both for many, many years. Cat's come, get love, disappear...dogs require much more attention than cats and I think Barney will adjust better than Cy at a vet's. I have found down through the years that showing love to others even when we don't agree is always the best medicine. Where there is love there is understanding that we are all made different, with different values. True Cy is not human, he is just a dog and your husband should come first in your relationship. Being a diabetic and visually impaired I understand your concern. I am deeply sorrowed about your trouble and will pray that Cy does find the home he needs. Thank you so much for understanding Dixie - of course Cy is very important to me, otherwise I would not have requested some suggestions. It's just that taking him is out of the question for US. I've had so many people tell me "just put him down!" and I won't do that! I trust God for an answer and I know that He uses people like those on this forum to help, so that's why I'm asking. Anyone want a great dog?Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}We live in the country and country dogs are wanted for barking purposes to let people know when someone drives up...so please pray that I can find Cy that type of home where he can continue to roam free. He would be misearable otherwise.Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}This is going to go over like a lead balloon, but I'm not taking Cy on the road. He's a dog - not a human and my disabled husband and I will be traveling via RV and flying (son is a flight attendant and we can fly free anywhere in the world.) We have raised our 4 children and are in a place in life that we can now travel extensively. DH is diabetic, disabled visually and cannot handle extra pressure of living with a large dog in the RV, nor does he want to. But the main reason is that he will have to be boarded for extensive amts. of time while we are out of the country. I am an animal lover, but a lover of my husband first and if I have to make other arrangements for Cy because of DH I will do just that. I know this is not going to set will with some of you on this forum, but there is no other alternative to finding him a home. I'll keep trying and believe that there is that someone special in the country that will love Cy and give him a place to live out his last days. I have some options left and time on my side...not to mention lots of prayer. So ya'll pray for us and Cy please. This is not meant to offend, just stating our situation.Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}I am reading everything as fast as I can - it's wonderful to see how God is moving today through all of you. I have a dilemma - we have a very old stray dog that came to us about 8 yrs. ago, during a severe ice storm...he just wandered up, freezing, sweet and wagging his tail. I couldn't stand to see him in such bad condition, so of course he became ours immediately. He had been recently blinded in 1 eye, developed arthritis in his hips, and because he couldn't see very well, while on a walk with DH down a country road, he was hit by a truck, but it was minor. He has a torn ear...he's a mess, but he's my mess and we have cared for him as best we can. After getting hit he disappeared for quite a while and when he returned he had the torn ear so it could not be sewn up - it wasn't life threatening, just unattractive. Everytime we drive up to the house he greets us with a leaf, stick or whatever in his mouth - my dad said it's his peace offering. We named him Cy (not for cyclops as some have suggested) - it's a name from a Bing Crosby/Bob Hope movie where they greet each other with " Hi Cy!" and "Hi, Hy"...I always thought it was cute...anyway...the problem: Cy is the sweetest dog we've ever owned and deserves a great life. We are in the middle of remodeling a large home and in order to sell it and go full time we must do some plantings outside. Cy is a total outside dog and lays around all the time - in my flower bed, which is now a huge hole. We will be full timing and cannot take him with us on the road. We will be in a FW and he's too large. I've tried to find him a good home by advertising in the paper, got some calls, but no looks. I would like to place him with a rescue place, but all the rescue's that I know of here in Arkansas are for full bred dogs and he's a mutt. A great mutt, but a mutt. The local animal shelter (not the pound) will take him for a fee, which is not a problem, but the problem is, no one will adopt him and he will live his life out in a cage, which I cannot stand the thought of. What to do? Help me please!Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}I stumbled onto this thread today and have read up through 50 pages so far. As of this writing there are 867 pages, so I have lots of reading to do and can't wait to get to it! I'm up to the part of the suggestion for a Ole Fella Rally in Ga. Having read the link on his life, I know that it happened and there's more to this story...can't wait to read it all. God Bless you Dixie Flyer and all those that have donated. What a world we live in...Re: You MIGHT be an RV'r if . . .if you look in the rear view mirror of your minivan to see if the 5'er is clearing the bridge. if you make wide turns in your minivan if your favorite reading material is ANYTHING with RV or camping in the title and you fight over who's going to read it first. if the eyes of your acquaintances roll everytime you mention full-timing. if the eyes of your friends light up when you mention full timing. if you enjoy researching RV's after you've already bought yours. And I could go on and on and on....
