Will we struggle with storage? How about sleeping in our Roadtrek? Comfortable? Is the shower practical enough to use, or will we likely seek out campground facilities? Are we likely to swivel the cockpit seats around, or is that one of those things that's possible, but rarely done Site occupied sign may be useful. We came back to a National Park campground to find a tenter set up in our site; sites are assigned at this park but they arrived after hours and failed to check the office. They were unhappy when we made them pull up the tent and haul off there firewood. We have a Sportsmobile Sprinter with a platform bed. Adds a lot of storage space and for me a more comfortable bed. To save space try things like quick dry camping towels; full size towel is smaller than a normal wash cloth. LLBean has some great rain coats and winter coats that collapse to the size of a rolled up tshirt. Our table is portable and we spin the seats around to use it. We also use them spun around to relax and watch TV. Shower is used when we stay in National Parks or overnight on the road (Cabelas, Walmart, Rest Areas, road side pullouts). We have enough water and tank capacity to go 3 days with daily navy showers. If we are in a campground with nice showers we use them, but on more than one occasion my wife has walked back to the van and turned on the hot water heater. If you like Yellowstone, a B adds many more campgrounds besides the ones with reservations. We arrived July 4th last year and grabbed a spot in the park the first night. Street side parking, I saw a comment above about trouble finding it. Even with 23 foot Sprinter, with a little look we have found it, even tourist spots like Bar Harbor, Maine. Look for end spots or side streets with less traffic than the main drag.Re: Theodore Roosevelt National ParkNice smaller park with interesting sites and wildlife. The camping is dry, like most parks, water is available but you have to pay to dump at a private campground. Had an excelelnt dinner at Theodores in Medora.Re: No campground spots available, what to do? We always travel with our dogs but honestly your 200lb dog will be a major problem in finding a campground. Many campgrounds are restricted by their insurance policies (which are hard enough to maintain) and dogs will be limited to less than 20lbs. Some breed are also excluded. That's not to say you can't travel with the pets in the future, but you may have to do some serious planning, research, and make advance reservations to find facilities friendly to your needs. Good luck. 200# and a Mastiff.......Mastiff is on the list of banned breeds Ok, I have seen some parks with a list of banned breeds, probably less than 20% I have looked into, for ever place I stay I look at a dozen I have never seen a weight limit. My top 3 ways to find places are the Allstays App(definitely is not all inclusive, Overnightrvparking.com and Harvest Host. I will then separately check the State Park website to make sure some were not missed or if they list alternatives. If those 3 don't work calling the Chamber of Commerce or even the place you want to visit.Re: Orange County Register Article - RV StorageMakes me happy that I live on 35 acres outside of Atlanta, GA and not on the west coast.Re: Spring Trip: South EastAtlanta - Stone Mountain is the closest campground, while I live here and it's not my favorite place to visits to say there is nothing to do is a little extreme. The Georgia Aquarium, World of Coke, College Football Hall of Fame, High Museum of Modern Art, Atlanta Children's Museum, the Martin Luther King JR Historical Site and the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. Those would top the list of things to do.Re: USA Sticker Maps - Settle an argument! Rangerman40 wrote: My wife and I agreed we would only count the ones we camped in. Since our goal is to camp in all 50 states it seems easier that way to keep straight where we've been and where we need to go. Does overnighting in a rest area, Cabelas or Walmart count? What about a Harvest Host site like a farm, brewery, winery or museum?Re: My over 13' rv went under a 13' clearance bridgeSome roads they list the height at the curb. Our Sprinter clears the road out of Acadia from Jordan Pond. According to the sign its 10' but it's a true arch and probably closer to 12 in the center. Another example is the Bluerdige Pkwy, the guides list the lowest height at the curb, middle and center.Re: Chattanooga, TN to Gainesville, GAUnfortunately it is over the mountains, across GA 20 and all the traffic lights and heavy traffic or I75/I285/I85/I985. For 25 years they have talked about building an outer perimeter but they have not.Re: Beginning the search for our next B - Lots of QuestionsSportsmobile is truly customizable. While the Califronia location does a lot of 4x4 that is certainly not the focus of Austin location. You pick the van and pick the layout that fits your needs.Re: Tow tt thru AtlantaIf you drive through on Sunday get in the far left lane, which is the HOV lane. Even if there is game day traffic it will not back up that lane. You didn't say if you would take 75 or 85 out of Atlanta but the HOV lane has its own exit northbound. Once you get farther North it turns into pay lane. If you don't have Sunpass or GA or NC version hop out of that lane.
