To the OP: I usually get a little over 10 mpg empty and 8 mpg pulling my 2012 Jayco 267 BHS. Mine has the 3.73 gears. I'd pick the 8.1 over the 6.0 any day if it was for towing. The big block's torque just pulls so nicely.Re: Post your tow vehicle pics hereThank you for your service Saz.Re: Hello Ram 1500 Diesel! Now you're speculating: 1. That the upcharge is going to be $4k 2. That all buyers will be paying interest on a loan 3. On the future price difference between RUG and diesel 4. On future resale value of a truck that hasn't even been built yet. If you know so much about the future you should buy lottery tickets.Re: Hello Ram 1500 Diesel! I can imagine a lot of builders, landscapers, trades people, and TT haulers, etc., using a small diesel 1/2 ton like this. The biggest arguments against it might be, the high cost of diesel fuel, and the up-charge for the diesel engine and 8 speed trans at initial time of purchase. But regardless of all the speculation, arguments, number crunching, nay-sayers, there is really only one good way to test the market. That is to stick your neck out there, invest some money, take a chance, build it and give it your best shot at selling it. Kudos for them trying it. We can all speculate as much as we can. I hope they sell millions of them. Agreed.Re: Diesel vs gas...................... dubdub07 wrote: 18%. That's ridiculous. The steepest highway in America is 10% and I believe it is in Wyoming. An 18% driveway doesn't count. Interstates, highways, county and city roads all have different grades that they permit. Here's some examples of US city streets that are over 30%. http://googlesightseeing.com/2009/06/the-worlds-steepest-streets/http://googlesightseeing.com/2009/06/the-worlds-steepest-streets/Re: Diesel vs gas...................... If you could add a nice hp and tq gain for just a few hundred dollars and it only took a few minutes to install, you'd do the same. I love my big-block gasser but it would be a much better truck with a diesel powerplant.Re: Diesel vs gas...................... rhagfo wrote: Just where do you find an 18% grade in Ohio? I'm sure there are some. Many areas in the Midwest have steep grades. The difference between the Midwest and the mountains is that the steep Midwest grades are shorter in distance.Re: 2012 5.3L Yukon XLBite the bullet and throw money and parts at the current truck or look at trading it for the truck you want/need. That's an expensive dilemma.Re: 2012 5.3L Yukon XLBeen there, done that. We bought a 2012 Jayco 267 BHS (about 6k pounds dry) last spring and hooked it up to our 1/2 ton Suburban with the 5.3L. We ended up buying a 3/4 ton Suburban with the 8.1L before the summer was over. Can the 1/2 ton do the job? Yes. Was it fun? No. The better suspension, brakes and pulling power of the 2500 Suburban make it much more relaxing to tow with.Re: Post your tow vehicle pics hereI came from a 1/2 ton Suburban and then upgraded to a 3/4 ton with the 8.1L. It's a night and day difference between the two trucks. I'm betting you'll experience the same thing with your upgrade.
