Definitely will go with heavy duty and wet bolts. DonShackle straps?Hi I was doing some maintenance on my 2014 DRV Tradition, 28,000 miles on it, and found both straps broken on the LH rear axle and one broken on the RH front axle. We just got back from a 3300 mile trip from Minnesota to Maine and back! I wish I could say when they broke. I check tires at every stop and did a full inspection before I left on the trip. The axles are 7000 lb. Trailair Equa flex by the way. My question is what's the best replacement for the straps? Are wet bolts a good addition as long as the straps are being replaced? I'm not sure if I want to tackle it myself and given one spring eye would be sitting on the frame. I will have to get a mobile repair service to come to my house. I think we dodged a potential bad one. Thanks DonRe: Blew out back RH window with my camper tonight,,,, ConfusedHi I broke my back window while backing up. My car insurance covered it under my glass replacement rider in my policy. No deductible. I have a Curt 20k slider hitch, but I can't use it because when I slide it back, the back of the pin box is about 1/4" from hitting the tailgate. ????. DonRe: A/C filled bedroom with mist?Good news, Dometic extended the warranty to cover any repairs or replacement of my A/C. Great customer service:) DonA/C filled bedroom with mist?Hi I have a 2014 DRV with two Dometic Penguin ac/hp a/c units. I had both running at the time and happened to go up to the bedroom to find what I thought was smoke, coming out of the ceiling vents. I shut down both units and went to check roof. No fire! I took off the cover and could find no evidence of any sort of damage. I am assuming that it was freon that was vented into the bedroom. There was no real odor except maybe a slight chemical smell. The AC will run but no cool air. Are these things repairable or throw away, when it comes to freon loss. It's two months over two years old:.( DonRe: Ceramic heater to heat hydraulics in battery compartment? Thanks for the insight. I think I will just move the landing jacks down and up a bit, then go ahead and hook up. I have the slides in now and don't need to open up until I get to Foss, Ok. for the night. Southwest here we come!Ceramic heater to heat hydraulics in battery compartment?Hi Need to pickup my fifth wheel in KC on Thursday. Temps over night Wednesday to be in single digits. I was told by Lippert that it's not a good idea to try and use the front jacks at temps below 32. Ditto for the slides. I was thinking about heating the front compartment where the hydraulic pump and tank is, with a ceramic heater. The 6 volt batteries are in there also, in a box with a vent hose. Any concern with battery fumes and the heater? Not sleeping in trailer. How low is too low to open and close slides. Will still have some cold nights driving to Boulder City, Nv. 2014 DRV Tradition. DonRe: To Fifth wheel from Class A with toadAs I suspected still a coin toss. With a Dodge Caravan, Sub. Outback and a Z4 for fun, I still have a problem with a 35K-40K truck sitting unused but for 6 or so weeks we use the MH now. As I write this four days into a two week vacation, with a broken slide cable! Bedroom slide. Having just had a living room cable replaced two weeks ago, from a pre vacation weekend trip after winter storage. Oh and had to replace the hot water heater pressure valve, leaking, yesterday. Maybe we will just start full timing and live here, just west of lovely Detroit. Don and very sad DWTo Fifth wheel from Class A with toadHi We have a 2008 HR class A diesel and pull a car. Have had repair after repair, the worst of which is the breaking of slide cables. Body count at 8. The MH was purchased new 2010 and has 18K. My question for all you fivers is. Are fifth wheels easy to use for weekend trips, 1 or 2 week vacations with multiple stops, sometimes just over night? We are not yet retired, two more years, but we will not full time after we do retire. Just winter south for a few months. We like fifth wheels and considered one before the class A, but I have no other need for 3500 series diesel PU crew cab, we have 4 dogs. Thanks Don
