Or after I arrive in Mexico?Your best bet will be to purchase the RV in Canada or the USA and drive it down and obtain the importation permit at the border. Why do I say that for the simple reason that trying to legalise the transfer of a foreign registered vehicle will be time and money consuming, poaperwork has to be translated and notarized, and not everyone can translate the paperwork, it has to be an aproved translator, or done by the US or Canadian Embassy or Consulat. After that you need to obtain a new temporary importation permit and not every little town has the proper place to do that so havoid headaches and purchase the vehicle abroad and get TIP at the border it will be faster and cheaper. navegatorRe: RV Storage in Mexico CityThe only RV park in Mexico City is: Pepe'RV Park San Martin 54600 Av. Eva Samano de Lopes Mateos 62 Tepotzotltan Estado de Mexico Mexico Tel +52 55 1259 5129 It is the only RV park in the valley of Mexico City after passing the toll both the entrace to the town of Tepotzotlan is pretty close and immediately to the right, I recomend that you look on google maps the layout of the town , you need to go arround the convent and the street where it is located is easy to miss. Do not confuse the town of Tepotzotlan with the town better known to the tourists as Tepostlan, that is in the state of Morelos between Cuernavaca and Cuahutla. Regarding the repairs that you need, it is better if they are done State side, RV's are rare in Mexico. navegatorRe: Earthquake!!!One vernal cave pool in death vally had 4 foot waves 75 minutes after the quake in Mexico, they also have wave activity after quakes in South America, Japan and the South Pacific islands, plate tectonics are interesting I have been interesred in them since the late 1960's, that pool is 1,300 miles from the epicenter from the quake of 7.7 on the 19 of September, and of course Mexican humor says that Y retiembla la tierra en su centro al sonoro rugir del "temblor" (And the earth trembles in it's center at the loud roar from the quake) These are words that are part of the Mexican him, except for the "temblor" it should be cañon "canon", humor in Mexico is unic. navegatorRe: Earthquake!!!We had another quake of magnitud 6,7 and 1230 plus teluric movements from the last one and countles others from the seismic areas to the South East this is the tectonic plates moving, those of you living in RV's have the best quake protection, the RV will wistand a 12.5 quake or higher easily, some of you go down the road at over 75 MPH and the RV did not come apart, unles there is an obstacle, those of you living in brick houses, hope they are strong to wistand the quakes, did I feel the one today in the wee hours, nope was sound asleep and the cat did not wake me up, got to have a talk with her about that! navegatorRe: Earthquake!!!Mexico has tectonic plates near and under, most of Mexico sits on the North American plate with the Baja peninsula riding along on the Pacific plate, on the South East is the Caribean plate that is pushing on a South West direction, directly South is the Cocos plate and North of it is the Rivera plate. The Cocos and Rivera plates are subduction plates that are going under the North American plate, the Cocos plate is broken in two sections and is very interesting because it does not continue in an ark down but levels of and it travels for a distance, and then goes under that is from the coast of Acapulco to Mexico City, that is why the volcano Popocatepetl is active. So Mexico has subduction earthquakes and shear earthquakes, Baja rides the Pacific plate along with California against the North American plate, ergo the San Andreas fault. Mexico has very active teluric zones and there are a miriad of frature zones, there will be more quakes to come, lets hope that the population learns to build better structures that are more stable in teluric movements The Monday quake was from the Rivera plate moving and there there is a gap along the North Cocos plate on the coast of Guerrero that has not moved in some time the last time it had a good movement was 1957 so we are looking at a big one. navegatorRe: Dying in MexicoIn order for a birth certificate, marriage certificate or death certificate from any state (USA) or province (Canada) or any document from any country that belongs to the treaty and (I do not recal the name) for them to be accepted as legitimate need to have the correct apostille stamps, when dealing with these types of documents try to have a family or friend in the US or Canada or other country ship the documents via FedEx, UPS, or DHL the Mexican postal service is not reliable, I have teceived lettets that were sent at the end of October and they arrived in late April, specially when time is of the esence but in order to be a little prepared bring certified copys of birth certificates and mariages or better apostilled, specially if you travel in South America. navegatorRe: 2014 Ford V-10 Dropped plastic cap down oil fill tubeMr: RLS7201 I started working with Diesel and gasoline engines at the age of 12 on my uncles farm, I owned a marine repair in the late 70's then an auto repair shop and have worked for Volvo, Saab, Mercedes Benz, BMW, Volkswagen, Audy and Porche and in San Diego I repaired police, fire, emergency and general heavy duty machinery, excavators, backhoes, rollers, etc. I graduated as a Volvo master mechanic from the Volvo technical school in Gothenburg, the last engine that I helped repair was 2 years ago, today I am 75 years old. You would bee surprised at what I have seen stuck in oil galeries in engines and the damage done by things droped in oil filler orifises, specially in marine engines. Thank you for letting me know that I have no idea how engines work!! navegator
