Will end up spending about $3500 for a couple of leaks (differential, rods), tune-up, hoses, tires, coolant/tranny etc. flushes, oil change and a few other things. I did this cause: 1 - I am cheap 2 - I like the truck, it still sounds and runs great 3 - Repair guy (that I trust), said if it was his, he would do the maintenance and 'run the s#$t out of it'. So, my decision has now been put off for a year. (Or, unless I see an incredible 'on the lot' deal that calls my name.) The suggestions here have been saved and filed for future reference. Thanks to all.Re: 2017-2018 Lance Bed Plug Location BradW wrote: MiniAdventures wrote: My experience has been that the 12v option on the frig does not work very well, anyway. The Dometic in our Lance has worked great on 12V for 22 years except for the large draw on the battery. We had problem with the gas side. Could not keep the pilot lit over about 40 mph. I tried all the "fixes" back in the 90's; nothing fixed it. :) Brad Glad it worked for you. The 'drain' on the battery you mention was one we found out about the hard way. That, coupled with the fact that the cooling was nowhere near as good as with AC or propane for us, was why we stopped using it on DC. We did have some success with a 'filter' attached over the external exhaust panel when on propane, but I did not like the idea of running on propane at 70 mph. :ERe: 2017-2018 Lance Bed Plug LocationMy experience has been that the 12v option on the frig does not work very well, anyway.Re: Which Truck?sharkman: no problem - SRW only for me. Interesting, as some of the reasons I went for the 815 included that it was the smallest, lightest, yet fully functional TC (from Lance, at least) at the time. I just assumed that it would fit any full-sized 3/4 ton (or more) truck. Devocamper: ~~ 2 mos. jives with what I have been hearing. May wait until mid Sept. to order, as I will be in Florida for the season the first week of Oct.Re: Which Truck?Sounds like if I go newer Dodge, it is the 3500 leaf. I leave the camper on most (95+%) of the time and if I ever buy a heavier camper, will need the 3500 anyway.Re: Which Truck? Thanks (I think - :h )Re: Which Truck? burningman wrote: DO NOT buy a new Ram 2500 to carry a camper! A buddy of mine made that mistake. It has an entirely different rear suspension than the 3500 (coil spring vs. leaf spring) and it DOESNT WORK! The problem is the new Ram 2500 coil springs are set too far inboard. It supports the frame in too narrow of an arrangement. That makes the truck terrible at handling top-heavy loads. He tried driving his new Ram with his camper and it was so bad he had to turn around and go home. Get a Ram 3500, not 2500, that’s very important. Or get a Chevy or a Ford. I’d go to the 3500 from any of the three for camper work no matter what. Is the new 2500 coil spring config different from my '05 2500?Re: Which Truck?Well, I have started the 'build me own' process. Have saved several configurations, including ones for both the Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500. Although I get an online price as part of that process, can I then contact a couple of dealers (within 100 or so miles) to compete for even a better price? Assuming my truck/options need to be 'built' (likely) - anyone done this recently that could give me a ballpark Time-frame on receiving a new vehicle? Thanks ...Re: Window AC in a Truck Camper? Thanks. So, to use this for cooling/heating, I would need the boot for a 'seal'; otherwise, I would just slide the respective windows open to retrieve 'stuff' from the back of the truck - kewl.Re: Window AC in a Truck Camper?Thnx jaycocreek and Kayteg1 - guess I need to think outside the 'boot'
