I could sure see that happening. Now that I have started down this road I am not sure where to stop.Re: Help with truck capabilitiesI really appreciate every ones input! The route I think I am going now, based off the input, is to trade in my truck for a f-250 diesel, which will expand my select choices for a TT. Thanks to all of you for contributing!Re: Help with truck capabilitiesSo would a 3/4 ton short bed handle that okay? Ford F-250 Diesel? Could that same truck handle a goose neck?Re: Help with truck capabilities MitchF150 wrote: You'll get down the road if that's what you are asking... ;) Where do you plan on taking it the other 10% of the time? How far is it to your Ranch for the 90% of the time? At best, your hitch is rated for only #1050 using a WD hitch setup.... #945 DRY.... Well, that all depends on what DRY means when they weighed it, but I'd say it'll be a bit heavier than that even if you don't carry any water... If you load the trailer with more weight and put it to the rear to reduce the TW, it won't handle very well.. So, the question is not really "can you do it", but "should you do it"... The answer to the first one is yes.. The answer to the second one is, it's really up to you... I wouldn't do it myself, and I run over some of my trucks GVWR, but I only have a 22', #5000 TT and not even close to exceeding the trucks hitch ratings... ;) Good luck with whatever you decide.. Mitch My Ranch is about 340 miles away. The original thought was buying something to keep at the ranch. Once I started looking at the TT I got excited about potentially taking it other places. Most of the time I would be with in 200 miles of Austin TX.Help with truck capabilitiesHello all, Can my truck pull this? I am new to the travel trailer world and am currently looking at purchasing a Jayco Eagle 324 BTS. This trailer is about 36 ft long and has a dry hitch weight of 945 lbs. It weighs 8,020 lbs dry. The truck I currently own is a 2012 Ford F150 3.5 L ecoboost. THe GVWR on my truck is 7200 lbs and my GVW is 5615. Leaving me only 640 lbs for people, cargo, propane, water and so on. I plan on keeping this Trailer at my ranch and using it there 90% of the time. I was imagining that when I do tow it I can put most of my gear in the trailer over the axles or back of them helping with the weight on the truck. As well as keeping my water tanks empty. Could you all help me think this through? Am I being realistic?
