All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: ATT doing away with satellite TVThat's true. My understanding is first go and nationwide sale of 5G in 2020. Then it will probably take several years to role out the entire network similar to 4G/LTE. On another note it does look like Verizon is also testing 5G, with Sprint and T-Mobile close behind. No standard has been set yet for what 5G is, so we are probably going to have at least two competing standards like we do now with 4G.Re: ATT doing away with satellite TVAT&T is planning on using 5G and blanketing the country with it. Here is a short article on where it is already being deployed: https://www.cnet.com/news/at-t-doubles-down-on-5g-with-second-test-location/ Good news is it looks like they will have to move back to unlimited data again. At those speeds you could eat your entire 12GB plan in less than 3 seconds. What I saw at ATT corporate center was that 5G will be on a bandwidth that will travel further and penetrate obstacles better than 4G. For driverless cars and other devices to work they need to minimize the gaps in their coverage maps. This means they will be moving into rural markets, that they haven't tried to compete in before because there was no monetary incentive to invest.Re: Full-timing it with teenagers?? Are we crazy? tomman58 wrote: Hog wash at best. If you live in Mississippi the worst state for education OK but anywheres else .... get a life and save your kids from YOU! My kids are doing fine, thanks for the judgement.Re: Full-timing it with teenagers?? Are we crazy? Why is anyone's feather's getting ruffled over this? Are we all supposed to say everything the right way the first time? Give all the pertinent information up front? If it was a technical issue most people would ask clarifying questions, like about the TV, TT or 5ver. Here its a lifestyle question and no one is afforded that courtesy? For those of you unaware homeschooling is a growing trend in the USA. Statistically homeschool kids outperform traditionally schooled kids on standardized testing for admittance into college. Road schooling is a subculture within homeschooling that allows families to travel to different places usually connected to something the kids are studying. However one of the continued criticisms homeschoolers get is socialization, usually from people who don't know our family or our kids. I don't open that up to conversation with others particularly when posting because we always get a lot of what we see in this thread. The OP shouldn't have asked that as part of the question I agree, but I don't think anything he did deserves the condemnation I see following this. To the person calling this a Soap Opera the OP posted 4 times, and had to respond to someone saying he may be attempting to control his children.Re: True, but scary, hitch storyI had my CURT safety pin break in transit while I was on the road. The latch was up, but the equalizer held the hitch on the ball. Ran into the store and bought a lock and have been using it ever since. Glad everyone is ok, that is why I check everything at every stop.Re: AT&T/Direct TV to discontinue satellite useI can tell you that if you walk into the corporate office of ATT in Atlanta they have presentations running to the public about their plans to have 5G up and running by 2020. 5G to them means 1GB speeds. They think this is necessary not only for DirecTv but also driverless cars and other IoT (Internet of Things) devices.Re: Winterizing Advice for North Idaho ?Wind quickens the freezing process, as it pushes cold air into areas that share the water lines. If you are going to have 30 degree weather with high winds that could freeze a line quickly. Either way to help give you piece of mind you should drain the hot water heater if it isn't already. Remove the low water point drain and let all the water drain out. That would cover the most vulnerable areas of freezing.Re: Guidance on tow vehicleIf this is not your daily driver and will be used for less than 400 miles per month you should just be looking at it from an economical standpoint. What TV will handle your cargo and TT best? You will never recoup the money on a Diesel but it will hold its value better. I get better mpg than I did with Gas, but the Diesel costs more. I come out maybe slightly ahead on gas. On the other hand maintenance is more expensive. I just had the oil changed for $100. That 10 qts of synthetic diesel oil... If it were me, I would get a 3/4 ton gasser and forget about it. However if you are thinking of longer trips at all in the near future. Then think Diesel. My Duramax van barely works going up hills where the same van with a 6 L gas struggled. I upgraded to Diesel to help with cross country trips where crossing the Rockies with my gasser could cost me significant time.Re: I need 3 rows of seats and more towing power....Sorry to hear that. I'm hoping your warranty company covered it.Re: Sad news for high data users on Verizon UDPsVerizon has a unique problem in the bid they used to secure the bandwidth for their LTE data prohibits them from throttling users. ATT, T-Mobile and Sprint do not have any limitations. If you look at the fine print on all of those unlimited plans they will throttle users past 22GB per month. This allows those providers to slow down users who consume a lot of data to allow other users to consume. Since Verizon can't do that it really does wreak havoc on their network. However there are still companies that will allow you to purchase a UDP data plan from Verizon. They have phone numbers and you assume the liability of the phone number along with the UDP.
