Passenger inboard bearing was starting to mark, grease looked new when the cap was pulled. Drive side outboard bearing was near dry and had same mark on bearings. Changed over to synthetic gear oil. Cost of seals, bearings, and new oil caps was $300 and $300 labor. Now I can check oil on front axel when the tags are checked, worth it to me.Re: Mineral Oil In Batteries - My UpdateHow much mineral oil in each cell? Will be checking batteries today or tomorrow getting ready for holiday.Re: slideoutsI worked on a 5ver with the slide left out in a RV park that had water intrusion. The entire end cap wood and slide out floor and wall had to be rebuilt. Some damage was due to neglect and some due to the seals not making a good seal with the slide left out. Both of my BOL's have new 5vers, both are fighting water leaks on high end Montana's. Both rigs are 9 months old. A neighbor has a 2 year old rig with a rotten slide floor from leaving his slide out over the summer when not in use. My thought is why take a chance with when it is so easy to bring them in. Wouldn't think of leaving my four slides out on our MH when not in use.Re: Thermal Snap DiskYou can purchase a ready made thermal control that plugs into 120 volt outlet then plug your shop light or heat source into that. Have used them to keep water free of ice. Old-Biscuit has one type that looks good, the one that I use is a single plug and larger. Have used w/ heat lamps but not radiant heaters.Re: ? TV Rodent Repellant LEDs?Don't know about mice, pack rats don't like lights. If you have one they will chew the wires off a new pickup in just hours. Saw a camp host w/ a shop light under his ford hd pu. Pack rats had visited his site. They will build a nest out of anything they can carry, they really like wire insulation. Knowing how my wife reacts to mice, I sure didn't need that. Off to hobby lobby and bought enough string light to circle the mh. Don't know if it works yet but makes wife feel better.Re: Soaked Chip Smokers vs Pellet SmokersSoaked chips are great if you will be around the grill to tend. Pellet smoker takes 3 min to set up and ready to smoke. Just put fresh pork loin on at 7:30, got out of bed and made coffee dressed and put grill out. Life is good. Try a cold smoke on any type of cheese, can't believe the flavor that it adds to Colby or pepper jack. Just smoked some to give for Christmas gifts. Not hard to do and sure is a hit.Re: Air Conditioner issue---NEED HELPI had tap put in on 13.5 that was on a B van. Turned out to be another problem but it can be done. Is your cover original? That is $120 to replace if it breaks. It is no problem for two people to lift unit off, getting down and new one up on top will take some work. 15K unit is the way to go. Plenty of places to buy new on east 54 and was one on west 235 that had quite a inventory. Good luck, I'd help if my list wasn't so long! See you down the road.Re: Where to find wiper arms, not just bladesTry a larger jobber, they will probably need your old arm to match. Have looked at large truck stops and only have replacement blades. Industry has quit handling refills. Also the 31 inch blades aren't available any longer, 28 inch is the longest I could get. I felt luck that the adjustable replacement arm for my Monaco was still available.Re: leak driving me nutsIf you have another person that can help you, try using a leaf blower. Spray a Dawn water solution or rig wash from a spray bottle and turn on blower. Be careful not to hold blower too close to the spot you are checking. The blower has so much power it will lift up some of the roof rubber if it is loose. Worked for me, hope this helps.Re: Tile Floors and Cold WeatherWife and I traded rigs in February while in Az. Bought a used 05 Monaco w/ Aqua Hot diesel furnace and water heater. It kept the tile floors warm and the water bay heated. The burner sounded loud when running until I stood next to propane furnace in next door fifth wheel, not that much louder. Total change from the two zone propane furnaces and propane/electric water heater in old rig. Like most people, I wasn't taken in by all the sales pitch when looking at this rig. This time it was all the sales man said it would be. Blind luck and a nice rig.
