Both the popular and versatile have a window back at the bed, and then a kitchen window around the sink area, but on the popular there is no window behind where the driver sits, but there is on the versatile. This is because since in the popular your bed is front to back & longer, they push the kitchen further forward and as a result you loose a window. On the versatile you sleep side to side with your head facing the passenger side of the van, and the bed is shorter. I am just under 5'8" and find the versatile bed just fine. I think a 6' person might not like it unless you don't mind sleeping at a slight angle. The versatiles were designed to seat 4 persons up front, and the populars were designed to seat 3 people up front, meaning they have one less rear seat. As far as we have been concerned, the only dis-advantage to the versatile is that the person sleeping on the outside has to crawl over the one on the inside if you need to get up during the night. But I sleep on the outside and I rarely need to get up, and it really is not difficult so far. All of the Chevy 190s were built on the 3500 chassis. If you want a Dodge 190 it will have to be pre 2004 because 2003 was the last year for them. The 6.0 engines started in 2004 I believe, but I know for sure in 2005 the 6.0 was standard. Sometime after 2008, not sure exactly when, they started using some 4.8 engines, but the 6.0 was still available. We have the 6.0, and personally I would not want anything else. It has been great. I hope this helps you out. Feel free to send me a PM if you would like more information. I have a vent cover that came off of my 2006 190 Chevy, and you could have mine if it is the same. There is nothing wrong with mine, no damage of any kind. I just don't know if they were the same or not. If you can't send a picture and want me to send you pics of my vent, I can do that. I have it all done except the exhaust pipe, and that is another story. I purchased a 3 foot long straight length of the pipe from Cummins, and i need to bend it as I need for proper fit, and no place I can find so far has dies of that size. It is 1 1/4 OD and exhaust shops don't go smaller than 1 !/2. I'm still working on that project, but I did bring the Roadtrek out into the drive and start it up and run it for about 25 minutes. The 1st thing I noticed was that there is a delay when you push the start button before it starts to motor. My old system motored immediately, this one has about a 3 second delay before anything happens. It does start fast and run smooth and quieter though. I ran the Roof A/C and the microwave at the same time just to make sure it handles the load properly. I think after I find a way to bend my exhaust and get that mounted, I am going to like the new system. The specifications on the new unit indicates that they increased the engine displacement slightly. It is still a 2800 watt unit, but a little more CCs. I am anxious to get it out on the road and really test it out. I will do another update as I find anything new.Re: RV Rental & Florida Keys Tour Ideas/Resources?One thing I will add is that if you are retired military, there are a number of possibilities for you in the Keys, including Key West. You would not need reservations, and the sites are very reasonable. The military bases all over the USA have family camps that an active duty military person, or a retired military person can use. Sadly, being a veteran won't gain access. Just wanted to mention this in case there are folks out there that qualify. I am retired military, and just started using the camping benefits in the last several years because I did not know about it. Happy travels.Re: What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?I am getting close to finishing up a major modification. Our original Onan Microlite 2800 generator had some major parts fail after 9 good years of use, and I decided to install a new 2800 rather than repair the old one. The issue though was that in the nine years since ours was new, they have made major changes in the generator designs, and it was so different that I had to re-design all of the mounting hardware, and relocate all of the electrical connections compared to what it used to be. I am down to fabricating a new exhaust pipe, cause that has totally changed also. I sure hope when I go to fire it up it all works great, cause it really has been a big job. I'll post how all is going after it is running.Re: Cummins / Onan 2800 Microlite changeThanks for the replies, I am about 3/4 qtrs finished with mods I needed to install the new unit. I will post how it all went, and also any differences I find in how they run in comparrison to each other. If I had realized in advance that the Microlite 2800 was no longer being made, I might not have placed the order. Cummins did not mention it, and when I ordered, I did ask if the unit coming would be exact replacement for all of my hookups, and they said yes. The people on the phone obviously are not up to speed on the products they are selling. All of this got started because after having to put $1300.00 in repairs to my unit in February while snow birding in Florida, and within weeks of that I still had the same issue arise again. After getting home in the spring where I could do my own work I pulled it out and took it to Cummins, saving all of the labor. Pulling this out of a B and reinstalling is labor intensive, and that was most of the cost in Florida. Well, as it turned out they wanted another $1700.00 for parts and diagnostics to repair my unit. I decided I did not want to have $3,000.00 in a 9 year old unit, so I ordered the new one for $2152.00. Then when it arrived, my choices were to modify my stuff to make it work, or end up with 3 grand in an older unit. Time will tell if I made a good or bad choice. If the new unit lasts for how ever many years we have our Roadtrek I will be happy.Cummins / Onan 2800 Microlite changeJust wondering if anyone knows when Cummins quit making the 2800 KV Microlite units used in most class B motor homes. I recently tried to purchase a new one, and they have now been replaced with a 2.8HGJBB. This is still a 2800, but everything about their mounting and hookups have changed. To install this new unit in the same place as my old Microlite will work, but has required major modifications on my part to get it done. All of the wiring is on the complete opposite side of the cabinet, and the units don't measure the same length, width and height. The new unit is 3 inches narrower than the Microlite was. I am just hoping that when I am all finished installing the new one, it will perform as well as the old one did prior to having some parts failures after 9 years of use. Thanks for any knowledge in this area by some of the power plant experts.
