It has been sitting for a week since we came back from Busch Gardens where we enjoyed all the Christmas decorations. Thinking of putting our class B up for sale next month and not too sure that is what we will do since we love it and it is in such excellent shape. We have replaced the dvd player with a blue-ray, added a rear camera that shows in our RV GPS, new tires, new LP detector, (replace avery 5 years according to specs.) added a Versa-Haul and a Kymco Scooter. Such a difficult decision. New Year, New unit. Maybe. See next year what it will bring.Re: Sewer Hose storage with class bFor our PW Excel we designated the drivers side rear compartment for storage for the pump out hose. I purchased a sewer hose that has end caps. After using the hose we rinse it out thoroughly and spray it with bleach befofre capping it. We also spray all the connections with bleach before hooking up our fresh water supply. You never know how someone before you handled their sewer lines and then contaminated the fresh water hook ups...bleach helps keep things safe.Re: how often do you actually use your onan generatorsWe have now had our 2010 PW for over a year. It has an Onan generator built in and although we didn't think it to be a necessity, we have used it extensively. We travel through Florida and primarily the keys but occasionally go north. We have used the generator at rest stops along the way to keep cool and make dinner, cool down the fridge quickly, (Propane is only to maintain coolness of the fridge and not used to initially cool it down). We have also used it in motion to cool down the rear area when we have guests traveling with us. Just run it each month to make sure you keep it running at its peak and follow your maintenance schedule. We would not do without one now that we have had it but to each his own. Good luck on your decision.Re: Jimmy Buffett concert at Cruzan Amphitheatre in FloridaAs a follow up to our original post here, Jimmy and the Coral reefers were teriffic. The stay at Cruzan was perfect. They have hookups for water and power at each site but make sure you have your adapter.....50 amp service only. We met a lot of great people, had a lot of great food and drinks and really enjoyed staying there on the grounds. The RV's circle the parking lot and the center is filled with car and truck parking. Everyone got into the Key West attitude and were very hospitable to the whole crowd traveling through. The Cruzan amphitheatre emplyees were top-notch and travel throughout the area assisting where needed. The gentleman who guided us to our spot with his golf cart even listed his cell phone number on our ticket in case we needed anything while we were there. Just can't say enough about it. Another bucket list item checked off.Re: What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?We are now home from a great trip to Juno Beach and West Palm Beach here in Florida. Saw Jimmy Buffett and the coral reefers in West Palm. What a great time. We booked our PW into the RV area and had a blast. It is a little pricey...$151.00 overnight with H2O and power, (50 amp) bring your adapter, but so much better than doing the hotel/motel thing. Great neighbors and a great staff at the Cruzan amphitheatre. While on the east coast we also spent some time at Juno Beach. Outstanding place. Extrememly clean and the clearest water to play in. Even free parking at the beach parking lot. Highly recommend it. On the way home we ran into a lot of love bugs and took the time on arriving home to clean them off right away. Don't wait to remove them little critters....they can turn into concrete real fast in the hot sun if left alone. Now we are cleaned and getting ready for the next trip.Re: Roadtrek Sprinter at air showWe haven't been to an air show but tried to stop at a beach on Marco Island, Florida. They would not even let us into the parking lot. Although there were no signs, they said RV's were not allowed there. Saw some trucks, (dually wheels) were there but we were not allowed in. Didn't ruin our day, we just eased on down the road and didn't spend a dime on that island. I guess I should make a note on travel advisor.Re: Bringing along a disability scooterWe currently are carrying a 2 wheel scooter for running around the keys when we set up camp. I looked at so many carriers and compared many. I decided on the Versahaul carrier for their design and durability. The not only make carriers for 2 wheel scooters but also the medical type of scooter. Check out their website or call them direct. They were fantastic to deal with.Re: Onan Gen QyestionI purchased a used class B with an Onan generator. One of the sales points was the genny had only a few hours on it. After learning about maintenance of generators, you need to run the genny for 2 hours each month under load to keep it working, running smooth. Therefore I found the genny was in dire need of an overhaul. Luckily basic maintenace plus one minor choke part was all that was needed. Now I put at least 2 hours a month on the unit and keep monitoring the oil level when I do this. My best advice is to read the required maintenace in the genny booklet and follow it. You never know when you are going to need to fire that genny up and save your trip. Good luck with whatever unit you decide on. Now that our Onan is working, love it.Re: Florida Keys Camping - Part #2As we have posted before we love Jolly Roger. It is right on the Gulf. The sites are a very good size. The ones on the south side are just HUGE. They do have water sites. There is no beach but there is a dock, seawall where you can enter the water for a swimming area or just sit and watch the beautiful gulf. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. There is not much in walking distance but being in Marathon it is centrally located for a short drive to where ever you want to go. The restrooms are new and beautiful. The pool is one year old and it and the surrounding grounds are well kept and gorgeous. We stay at Boyds when we are going to Key West. It is a great location to Key West where you can take the local bus, taxi or ride a bike to Duval street. The grounds are very nice. The sites are a little tight. There are some water sites with nice views of the ocean. The beach is not what one would call a beach. Very small. Key West is not know for its beaches. There are some but owned by the local hotels and motels for their guests. The public used beaches are pretty rocky if I remember right. As far as the facilities at Boyds, they are dated but clean. The pool is very nice and there is a store there with RV items, clothes, jewelry, snacks etc. We stopped at Knights Key but did not stay. Just drove through and it really didn't strike us as somewhere we wanted to stay. We did not check out the facilities or look much into it. The location is good and there is a good restaurant nearby. Hope this helps. Good luck on your decision. Each has its own merits and there are many other places throughout the keys.Re: Jimmy Buffett concert at Cruzan Amphitheatre in FloridaThanks for the suggestions and our prayers are with your family.
