All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsHamilton, Missouri restaurantsWe will be traveling to Hamilton, Missouri in October. I am a quilter and will be spending time at Missouri Star Quilt Company and visiting the town. If you have been to this town, what was your favorite restaurant for lunch or dinner that the men in the family especially liked. I know he deserves a couple nice meals here.Re: Where have all the members gone on this forum?Still here but not as often. Several years ago I wrote a post called, Mistakes we do not wish to repeat. There were 51 responses, and I laughed and laughed. Some were Yikes! moments, some could have ended badly, some cost money but almost all the responses were written by someone who at the time would not have found it funny but later could laugh. I wish I knew how to put it up and all the responses, but I don't know how. I do have it saved though.Re: Camping SafetyMy husband & I have been camping for 40+ years and have NEVER had a problem We travel throughout the country and spend a lot of time in Nat'l Parks. But we have never stayed in Walmart parking lots or Rest Areas except a couple times in a very large Welcome Center. My daughter and her family is on vacation now and are finishing up their travels through 45 states. This summer was Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas and Missouri In order to count as a state they have visited they spend time in the state touring cities, state and/or national parks, and area sites. They have also never encountered any problems. I wonder if the feeling of lack of safety is more associated with staying at Walmarts and/or Rest Areas. The one change that we make is in regards to the children in the family. Due to human trafficing concerns even in the midwest, children are never alone. We always went with the kids to play areas, but sometimes they would ride their bikes alone, they no longer do that.Re: RVs over 10 years old are valuelessWe have always kept our vehicles in top condition. But we have also kept each one over 10 years. It has never been a problem for us, we have never been asked the age of our camper. Granted we prefer to stay at State and National Parks and have less than no interest in staying at Resorts. Please do not let this type of thing end your traveling and making memories with your travels.Re: RV Dealers think new campers are junkI read the article. Dealers are complicit in the problem. The article stated that dealers know which brands have less problems. They do not disclose that information to buyers. I have no sympathy for the dealers having to deal with the issues as long as they don't disclose information that they have.Re: RV Dealers think new campers are junkWe have noticed the lack of quality control for many years so it is good that dealers are finally admitting what we all know. We were lucky some of the time and some of the time we weren't. The oddest thing was the mice that came in our brand new Cougar 5th wheel before we even put anything in it. All the holes that were drilled for electric and water were several inches too big and never caulked. We had a super highway for critters before DH caulked them all!Re: Pet peeve, neighbors leave porch light onWe just always close the shades at night in the camper. The only lights that bug me is the blue light on the water pump and the microwave light that flashes because I never set the time. I hope I never leave the kitchen area shades open because someone might get upset because of the flashing light inside our camper. Joking!!Re: Favorite foods to make bulk and freeze for the road? When we go to Nat'l parks we pack a lunch each day. Before leaving home, I go to our local meat market and get turkey, roast beef, cheese, ham etc. for sandwiches. We put one sandwich "fixing" in zip lock bags, mark them with our name and freeze. When we make sandwiches before heading out hiking we put the sandwiches together. The frozen part helps keep everything cold.Re: Check in/out timing...We have never had someone not leave on time, we did have someone on our site because they liked it better and just took the already registered to us site. We did not say anything to them and let the campground managers deal with it. The people were very nasty, we stayed out of the way while they moved. Another time check-out time was 1:00. We decided that morning that we would leave around 12:30. Around 10:00 a vehicle and camper parked on the road in front of our site. They asked us when we were leaving. When we told them, they said we needed to leave because they were ready for our site. We told them we were sorry and went for our bike ride. They got their chairs out and just sat facing our camper. I think we ended up leaving around 11:30. I just got tired of all their drama.Re: 16% Road incline!Information please on 17??
