All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: inverter adviceSounds like we have the same inverter set up , my 400 watt unit had been replaced by a previous owner with a xantrex SW 600. It's been working great for the 5+ years I've used the coach. Looks like the replacement would have taken a half hour at most. It's all the inverted power I need, right now. No charge function required. If I install a residential fridge , I would up grade.Re: Generator RF NoiseWhat exact model of inverter just died, and what exact model are you replacing it with? Also is this really an inverter/charger? Confusing 120v paths. Why can't you just plug the fridge into an outlet that works on shore power and use an inverter to run the outlet (and any other 120v things) when off- grid by plugging your shore power into the inverter and turning the converter off?Re: Bad inverter, rewire new one?In order to buy the “right” inverter for your RV, you'll need to determine the size of the inverter. To decide what size you need, total the wattage requirements of all the equipment you want to power, and then add another 20%. Next you'll need to decide if you need a pure sine or modified sine inverterRe: Voltage drop to 1200 watt inverterActually maybe it is possible I misread the meter and it draws 0.4 Amp. It's only a few years old. So, 240 x 0.4 would come out to 96 watts? That will make it more likely to start but not very well I guess. The 12.6 volts was the reading before the subsequent attempt just prior to the inverter failing. I did though use a fully charged jump starting battery (12v 19 amp/h) just for proof of concept, so no, it was not hooked up to any panels.Re: Dometic Refrigerator Auto LightIf you're in Auto, and are hooked to an AC supply, you will be operating on AC, not gas. If you want to check if the gas operates correctly, just unhook the AC and you should hear the gas valve open and the igniter clicking prior to the flame. On my Dometic in my 21BHS, there is Auto mode and gas mode, which would run the refrigerator on gas even in the presence of AC. However, I believe the fact the Auto light is on indicates you are still in Auto mode. refrigerator reviewsRe: Xantrex Fredom 458 series inverter/charger 20 ampIt is so good they have kept this information available ( your notes dated Nov 08, 2010). We have a 2001 Tradewinds also coach number 7370 and have the same identical electrical problem. Since this is Saturday night, I guess we will have to wait until Monday to call Xantrex. I see no answer so we are wondering if replacing the breaker inside the Freedom inverter/charger fixed the problem? Inverter reviewRe: Sharp convection microwaveI have struggled with mine for at least two years and finally got it fixed last night. Usually pounding on the front of the oven would get the power to come on and finally I pinned it down to tapping on the control section. Once opened up and plugged in I found a couple wires on one of the plugs when moved were causing the cut out. I then removed the circuit board and found cracked solder joints on the large pins of one of the connectors. I re-solder all the pins on that connector and the oven is fully repaired. Mid 1990 soldering robots didn't use enough heat on larger pins. This causes a fatigue crack after years of service and intermittent loose connection problems. Easy fix if you can solder and know where the cracks are. microwaveoven reviewRe: Microwaves on inverters.I believe the main issue is a microwaves massive startup current consumption. For example an 800 watt microwave is 800watts of microwave power not the power consumed. A microwave may pull upto 4 x the continuous power on startup. So a 800watt microwave might need 3200 watt inverter. That said I am sure people on here have real world experience of using microwaves on inverters. Hopefully they will reply.Re: Vector 1500 inverter overloads on 300 wattsCAT 1000W Power Inverter-CPI1000 up to 1000 watts continuous household AC power. It converts 12 volt DC power to 120 Volt AC household power. You can directly plug in to the vehicles 12 volts DC battery and continuous 1000 watts power. Two USB ports thats provide up to 2 amps of power to charge your smartphones, tablets and so on.Re: Inverter use. Some of the energy star electronics now require sine wave power. The modified sine wave inverters, especially the cheap ones, will not work and my fry the electronics. This is also true of some of the UPS's. Sine wave inverters will cost more, especially if you buy good quality ones.
