You will not be that far from Fredericksburg. A must see is the National Museum of the Pacific War. There is alot of very good German restaurants there also.

Get a long bed dual wheel. Add an auxiliary fuel tank. You will not have to pull that large 5th wheel into a gas ststion. Get in for the night unhook then go fuel up.

Another mountain in the area to drive to the top is mount Evans. This use to be the tallest paved road in the U. S. until they paved the upper half of pikes peak.

They have dolly's that you pull with a truck or SUV. These dolly's can pull a 5th wheel or Gooseneck. You might try one of these. Was at an intersection and a pick up went thru with this dolly with a 5th wheel on it. So I looked them up. What they won't think of next.
