Sure, your 1-ton Cummins dually will get better towing mileage - but who the heck wants to drive that every day? My '17 F150 rides like a Lincoln compared to a Super Duty (or any other HD truck), and I drive it every day - so, that's important to me. When I need it for the occasional towing of a trailer, it does a great job and I really don't care if I only get 10 vs. 13 MPG (especially now that gasoline is $1.80). If I did nothing but tow with my truck - I'd have a HD diesel for sure.Re: GM SUV Quality opinions wanted. Maybe expedition ecoboost. The 2015 has about 75k miles. We did have a fuel pump go out last month ($600) but that's not an Ecoboost issue. I know, I read about those problems too and even avoided the Ecoboost on my 2013 (bought the 5.0), but have been pleased with the Ecos we've purchased. I generally don't buy extended warranties, and never had any regret so far.Re: GM SUV Quality opinions wanted. Maybe expedition ecoboost.Only about 18,000 so far. No problems. We had a 2008 before that (had the 5.4 V8) and put 120,000 on that one with few problems. The Ecoboost has been good in the Expy, and also two F150 company vehicles (2015 and 2017) in our fleet. If you're looking at a used Expedition, maybe a 2016 or 2017 model would be a good buy. Some people don't like the looks as much, but I'll tell you I much prefer the lower price and actually I think the visibility is better. Also, it's easier for my short wife to access items through the rear hatch (window glass) of the old expy. But the new interiors are pretty great.Re: GM SUV Quality opinions wanted. Maybe expedition ecoboost. We have a 2016 Expedition EL, and also a 2012 Yukon Denali XL. (This is the old body style of Expedition, but has the twin turbo). Yukon has been virtually trouble-free for 120,000 miles. Expedition engine is my preference, however. That twin turbo just blows even the bigger Denali engine away, not to mention the regular 5.3. Denali looks better (new body-style expedition took care of that, however), but I much prefer the interior space of the expedition. The 3rd row of the GM models is horribly uncomfortable for an adult. Had a new body-style Expedition for a loaner recently, and really like the vehicle a lot. I would buy one of those, if I were looking for one right now.Re: My 2018 F150 Towing ExperienceTowing my 6000lb trailer with my 2017 XLT 3.5 Eco, 3.55, Crew Cab 5.5 bed - I am impressed and satisfied with the performance. Of course, an HD truck will tow better, yes. But, I like the everyday comforts of the F150 much better than the prior Duramax. I think you have two issues: 1)something not right with the truck, AND 2)too much trailer (length and weight). If you can figure out #1, you can deal with #2. I understand all the ratings; I'm just speaking from actual experience. I wouldn't enjoy towing anything heavier than 6k, and longer than 25' with a 1/2 ton truck. I like to be in control of the trailer, not vice-versa - and this can best happen with a truck that weighs equal to, or more than the trailer you're pulling. I know some will disagree; just my experience. Wish you the best of luck.Re: 2018 Yukon Denali 4X4 vs 2018 Yukon Denali XL 4X4It sounds like you're partial to the GM models - but, you may want to consider a Ford with the 3.5 Ecoboost (either an Expedition or F150). The 3.5 is a great towing motor, in my experience using both an Expedition EL and crew cab F150. I was surprised at how well they towed, in fact.Re: Golf cart/Club carAre you sure it's the charger that's bad? It's pretty unusual for a charger to quit, in my experience. Just a thought.Re: Palo Duro Canyon State Park TXI totally disagree on the length warning from the OP. We drove our 36' down there and I don't recall even being concerned. There were two other 45' rigs down there too. We were not towing a vehicle, but that wouldn't stop me if we were. And, that was in the summer. The show "Texas" was great. Yes, it's hot - but, it's a dry heat! LOLRe: Expedition vs. Yukon vs. QX80Agree. In my family, we have both - a GMC Denali, and an Expedition Platinum (2016). Both very nice vehicles. GMC looks better and has higher perceived cache. Ford handles better, and I LOVE the EB engine. That's the main reason we bought another Expedition after having a 2008. Old interior is fine, not great, not offensive. New interiors/exteriors should have people really questioning the old V8 GM. And you really want a neat ride...check out the new Navigator.
